So along the lines of what i would have called zeroing memory. I just have my doubts they use this. Even $10 per devices ends up being quite a lot of price difference, or profit loss. Can you make consumer grade electronics pretty secure. Yep, but generally not at a consumer grade price. In days of old even the set top box folks took shortcuts to save money, and there was a really good financial argument against preventing class breaks in that case.
What fucking topic is that? Shit he made up? Cus it has *NOTHING* to do with movement of people over centuries from ocean level rise of just a foot. NOTHING.
You know what would be really unexpected. If nothing much happened.... If your going to make predictions and then claim "science" you better have a credible prediction at as far as the science we have goes. This does not. Leaving out particularly important ocean circulation models etc. It is intellectually dishonest at best and down right 100% political more likely.
Oh that side of things is solid. Also i did similar stuff for genetic studies. The problem is that one simulations shows something bad for one area, so that is picked out, even if its out of the 90% CDI. Then for this other place the same thing. And these things are not independent. Basically you have a this statistical data that tells you that you don't know what is going to happen. But then write a "more hurricanes" paper anyway. Incedently for some of these simulation runs you can download the data. It does not say what a lot of people think it will say, and that with traditional doubling of CO2 in the given time frame (aka a shit ton more that ever before).
High accuracy TDA with phase measurement is pretty easy and accurate to very fine levels and shouldn't be much of a power drain. 10^-4 phase angle detection is fairly straight forward and at 40Mhz that is down to a meter resolution. Even without that you can get down to meter resolution with timing in the nanoseconds, which is just not that hard to do anymore.
but lets face it. It is not these guys top priority. And the car thief can just do it the old fashion way.
Why do you think that knowing someones name tells you anything about that person. Or what country their passport is from? You can be born and live in the EU all your life and not be a EU citizen. Even to the 3rd generation or more. It is weird. these are a few barely out of their teens dipshits with a suicidal tendencies. Marginalizing them will not improve the situation. Talking them down just mite.
Even when there was boarder controls. It was fairly easy to avoid them. In Austria for example a wall all the way through the mountains? Yea right. When i would ski in Switzerland the ski area was in both France and Switzerland. again good luck putting up that boarder.
Borders around land joined countries are a lot like locks on a house. They keep honest people honest. Nothing more.
Do you have any idea how often bombs go off there? This is news not because it doesn't happen fairly often, it just doesn't normally happen in Belgium.
So it is a plain old man in the middle attack. A way to prevent this, is use GPS in the keyfob as part of the challenge response and compare with the car GPS. But this does make the keys more expensive and GPS dependent (parked in a basement anyone?). AKA people get real upset when their car won't start. Also stolen cars are much less of a thing that it use to be in many parts of the world. I would also assume this won't work for after market alarms and imoblizers.
And there the is magnavolt, the final word on car alarms.
These other experts you speak of, actually don't agree with Hansen paper, pointing out some pretty seriuos omissions. If i can just leave out entire parts of the model to suit my wishes, i can predict anything i want.
We are far more capable of moving around than you give us credit for. Also these sea level rises etc, even by this doom and sky is falling chicken little shit, is over 100s of years. If you can't fucking move in a 100 years. Then drown, oh wait it will still only be around your ankles at high/spring tides...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... Wait your serious. This is a public internet forum. What did you expect. People here think becayse they can configure a router they are the cream of the humanity crop. Give me a break.
On/. scientists are always right when its AGW. Always wrong with dark matter, and have no idea when it comes to AI or a programming language or web site.
And you are the problem. Oh my god the sky is falling.. So you over there lead the way. Lead by example! Me? no no i need a SUV for safety and my dirt bikes i like to ride in the weekend and my jetski when i go to the lake. But you over start with leading by example....
If you really believe in these doom and gloom stories then you would act. But you don't. I don't buy this sky is falling bullshit, so why the fuck should i be forced to behave in line with your belief.
And you think this scientist is being objective? This is 100% pure alarmist bullshit. The models and data simply don't give any sort of credible scientific support to the claims (you really can't be specific. 1000 runs and a 1000 different outcomes.. etc). There is a *lot* of sloppy statistics and science out there. Don't assume they are on the level or even all that smart. They, i should say we, are a bunch of self promoted arrogant dicks a lot of the time.
It is what happens when scientists try and peddle their politics. Also the claims are at best intellectually dishonest. No models give any kind of real support to specific predictions. Even the IPCC report overstates the case if you follow the citations. That is the citations don't always support the claims. Also correlations between things is often ignored and even the outside chance events are claimed as "will occur". Sorry but the field has lot a lot of credibility, and unfortunately the real damage done is that no one in their right mind wants to let scientists get in on policy making. And i can't blame them.
Your assumption is that acting will be zero cost. The reason nothing happens is that even the biggest believers in the Doom of global Warming unless we repent of our eco sins now, is that they want everyone else to pay for it, and be inconvenienced by it. Just like the priests of old.
And this Alarmist story uses the same qualifiers. GW *may* be worse than expected. Unless its not in which case i am still not wrong. It may result in more floods.. or may result in more droughts or may result in "insert doom here". Or may not.
Fact is the models *don't* support specific predictions. The data is there to look at if you want. But you won't.
Consumer grade crytpo processor have proven time and time again to be very poor. Hell we are not talking about "motivated attackers" in the normal sense. We are talking about people wanting a few free games on a PlayStation. And they don't even survive that! Strong security at this level (government funded attackers) is both hard to get right even with the money and well expensive even if you want to try.
And yet the use of just plain old encrypt the whole device with a 3rd party tool probably would be far more secure. Assuming you use a really really long passcode.
Well google gives nothing so perhaps not. Also its not like quite expensive tamper resistant chips haven't been broken for a little more than shits n giggles, and full class breaks i may add. Simple zero memory features on most consumer devices is really pretty easy to get around for the simple reason that they are cheap, even when they have them. You want expensive security your not going to get in consumer devices. For fucks sake its like a 4-6 digit pin. Hardly real security.

I read the paper and the peers concerns. What are you talking about.

If your to fucking lazy to look shit up for yourself, but would rather get your facts from some random /. post, then not my fucking problem.
WTF does any of that have to do with AGW? Are you on drugs? Or you just shat your brain out on the toilet.
Read the comments made by his own peers.

On
It is more useful to have a credible worse case. Being sloppy to alarm people into your idea of policies and politics is *not* good science.

Sounds like a Haskell programmer.
