    Claims of 100s or 1000s are pretty clearly BS.

    The Nuremberg defense is not a valid one IMO (History is mixed on the effectiveness of this defense). Both the person giving the orders, and those who follow them are guilty of the crime. I will also add that those who have knowledge of the crime and say/do nothing are also an accessory to the crime.

    If there is no wikileaks, do you really think it wouldn't have been leaked? The internet is bigger than a website.

    The more massive the star. The more luminous it is and the habitable zone is further out, with a longer orbit. I wouldn't want to be 1AU away from the surface of Betelgeuse now would I.

    Unfortunately you cannot have *any* form of "instantaneous" transport of matter or energy where the average speed is bigger than c (distance between the points divided by the time it takes). If you do so, without adding extra physics, causality is violated. You don't actually need to travel faster than light to form causality violations.

    So you have relativity, FLT and causality. Pick two. Considering that we have a fairly big pile of data backing up relativity, you should probably keep that one.

    The tidal forces on these moons drive the plate tectonics by keeping the core molten. So the restriction is based on "orbiting a star". Then the planet needs to be a certain size to stay volcanically active. However last I heard. The Jury was still out on why Venus has no plate tectonics.

    If there is no faster then light method of travelling possible, then there are unlikely to be any visitors ever. End of story.

    This is quite false. You have left out a entire section of very possible developments.

    • Longevity treatments. Whats 100 years when you live for 1000?
    • "Cryo sleep" or suspended animation. No reason why it can't work.
    • "Generation ships". No reason why a big arse space ship wouldn't be a pleasure to be part of. Even if you don't care about the destination.
    • robotic overloads. You don't need AI here.

    Note that nuclear fission fragment rockets can get ~5% C. Antimatter much more... sure we aren't doing it now. But there is no physics stopping it. Unlike FLT.

    All we are missing is the desire or need to go in the first place.

    To be sure, nuclear needs a better waste plan. However there are many methods that could potentially deal with it. We just don't at this stage since no one wants a new reactor built anywhere...

    The idea of using salt is so that you can store the heat for cloudy days. Also you have clearly not spent any time in Sicily. I don't think they even have a word for cloud ;) really.

    You mind backing that up with figures and perhaps even data. Solar thermal as this plant demonstrates is really expensive. I mean 60M for 5MW? Nuclear has plenty of costs and it may not in fact be economic. But neither is solar or wind without massive subsidies that the population at large shells out for.

    Wind, cartridge variation, weight variation on the bullet, humidity etc all affect the trajectory of a bullet. Even with perfect aim, you don't get a perfect grouping.

    A .50cal is quite a bit bigger than a standard rifle and most games seem to assert that sniper rifles are in fact .50cal. I know they are used for that, and the SAS ones were sweet. But I was still under the impression that 308 are popular for this role.

    Indeed when i said hotter--I meant more Luminous, as in more energy is radiated. However Average density is what defines the radius, and for a star like ours that's at the hydrogen burning phase, it does get larger and less dense with more mass (with a hotter surface IIRC with a CN cycle). Later in its life when burring heaver elements they swell to much larger sizes and become red giants.

    Also the heat of collapse does not change the equilibrium. It does change the amount of mass in the star (part of the gas gets blown away once the fusion starts).

    However, its been years since i ran the numbers.

    You are wrong because you have completely neglected the heat source. More massive stars are hotter because they burn more fuel. The volume to surface area ratio means the cores are hotter and larger compared to a less massive star, that means more fusion. So as stars get more massive, they get hotter and less dense and hence have a larger radius.
