  1. on.com, what about off.com on Domain Names Worth Their Weight in Gold Again · · Score: 1

If on.com went for $635,000 I wonder what off.com went for? Wish we could stick to numbers. Ahhh.. member the days of compuserve email address's of numbers? I think mine was 174211.7411, or something like that. I have it sitting in a drawer somewhere. Sigh... capitalism at it's worst. It's all in the name, race, right place-right time... yadaa yaddaaa dang!

  3. Way too many on How Many People Work in Your Internet Department? · · Score: 1

I work for a major HealthCare Organization in IT.I worked on the Internet side in IT for 5 years. It is a very interactive site, connecting to many complex systems to give secured medical information to people. However, still, there are simply way too many developers, PMs, consultants and management working on the site. Approximately 35 mil $$ a year is spent across biz/IT. Approximately 300+ employees are recording time against this work at any given time. Surely complex, but really could be done for half of that.

  4. We all need to be accountable on Overwhelming Bureaucracy in the IT Department? · · Score: 1

I am an IT worked in a very large organization. And yes, often I am embarrassed by my own IT organization. Many of the ~5000 of us could do things better, plus, clearly the processes are what are most frustrating for anyone on the receiving end of our services. I would claim that all of us, providers and customers need to step up and become accountable for the numbers associated with our work. At which point we tie these metrics to our performance reviews and increases/bonuses {wouldn't it be cool if the Feds did this too}. Eventually we will see a turnaround. Keep talking about it, it will get better. As my famous neighbor says, "I guarantee it".
