This was 5 minutes of looking. The list goes on and on. There are PLENTY of reasons for mature children and teenagers to know how to use firearms. One of the biggest reasons is the simple fact that it educates them in what freedom actually is.
Just for fun, here is a 13yo girl using a pistol, shotgun, and fully automatic rifle in competition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=yd4B77PkeaU and here she is talking about the specific firearms she used, https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=TXYdzPiF4xc

Re:Break Their Legs and Put Them in the Everglades
Bit off topic, but I oppose the death penalty because I do not trust a state which cannot effectively manage basic services and which regularly convicts innocent men (plea deals and bad police work) to effectively and correctly administer the death penalty.
Take for instance the deathrow inmate in Ohio who was too fucking fat to fit on the table. This is a person living in a tightly controlled environment (prison) where the state has complete control of his diet and routine. The state owned his life, they had the power and authority to kill him but not the power, authority, or awareness to put him on a fucking diet. Something they should do for all prisoners anyway, since paying for a diabetic, obese inmate is much more expensive than a regular inmate.

Re:Ghost of the time?
It's interesting, Xenna, that what happens when you allow people to drive cars, is things like this:

The folks in your article obviously have fundamental problems with the way they handle themselves - probably the same kinds of folks who would run someone off the road with a vehicle.
"If I was a bad guy and I had bad intentions, I think I'd make sure I'd shoot to kill first."
The assumption that bad guys will always shoot first given an increase in the number of concealed carry permit holders is a fallacy. The statistics prove that does not happen. As I've said several tiems on this thread, generally, thiefs are not murderers. They want to steal and get away as quickly and quietly as possible, and being involved in a shootout does not contribue to this goal. At least, that's what the studies have shown. -
Re:Denver uninstalled their cameras
I'm positive that someone has thought of that before. However, I am also positive that some politicians are viewing the RLCs as purely a revenue stream and I wouldn't trust someone like that to pay attention to concerns over turning right on red. Especially when a governor of a state vetoes a bill to limit the revenue generation abilities of speed and red light cameras and to give citizens rights in their uses because it does just that.
Now they are wanting to make seat belt violations a primary offense (so they can cite people not wearing them without those people breaking another law or traffic violation first) and to put speed cameras in construction zones even when workers aren't present. BTW, in my state, there are typically two speed limits in construction zones depending on where they are at. One reduced but still fast to safely promote the flow of traffic and one slower then that for when workers are present to help ensure their safety. Fines are also doubled in construction zones. I wonder which speeds will be used when the workers aren't present or if workers hiding in the trees alongside the roadway and out of the view of the public count for the lower speeds. Please excuse me if I seem cynical. There seems to be ample evidence of its necessity though.

Voter fraud is a myth.
In their five year investigation of voter fraud, the Bush Administration found 120 prosecutable offenses of voter fraud, out of millions and millions of votes cast. Organized voter fraud is a myth, but organized voter suppression is very real. Republicans know that the higher the turnout, the more likely it is that the Democrat will win. So, they like to spread things like this around to encourage voter suppression efforts Like this one in Ohio.
