    Very generally speaking, the height of the blades makes for more efficiency, the wind is stronger/steadier and less ground effects way up high.

    In fact, the watchees usually don't feel differently. The majority of people in the UK are quite happy to have CCTV in public places (the emphasis being on the public part). For example, CCTV footage may play a pivotal role in bringing Ipswich's recent serial killer to justice.

    Inside Russia:
    A KGB leader rules he country, were mafias run rampant, foreigners get killed in the streets, petty wars are fought abroad, and regime-critics get killed.

    Outside Rusia:
    Blocking resolutions against Iran developing the bomb, providing funds to terrorist group (seems like a good way to keep the West troubled and give free ride to Russia as "it does not matter anymore"), the tactics of cutting gas supplies to neighbours and trying to own strategic European infrastructure and industries. And, of course, killing of disidents abroad with radioactive material.

    I say Russia is back as the enemy of the West. And this includes the USofA

I'm sure there are examples out there, but my guess is that they are quite rare. By comparison, the seven year sentence for software piracy was the largest such ever. So, seven year sentences for software piracy are also exceedingly rare.

    Of course. Ready to be rudely awaken? Granted, these are sentences handed down from state courts, not federal.

    Judge - No prison time for child rapist

    Sex Offender ruled too short for Prison

    Man rapes child for 10 years. Gets no prison time

    Child Rapist gets 60 days in prison

    And I could go on and on and on. You want to see how many years the proclaimed "Worst Child Rapists" gets? Twenty years. Not life. Twenty. fucking. years. Worst Ever Rapist gets 20 Years I do write to the senators of my state when things like this happen. I would implore those of you who live in states from these above articles to also write your representatives. I'm sure I'll be modded off-topic, but this is worth arguing over.

    While it was not (yet) as bad as The Sun when I left the UK in 2002,
    It's getting closer. Even to the point of having a couple of Page 3's a week (not entirely naked however - this is the middle class version of The Sun remember ;)

    It's interesting that Google News and Google proper only carry two reports of this, and there is no mention on the BBC web site (as of 21.38 PDT).
    Which two were those? A search for 'tree dna arrested' only brought up Slashdot and one from 24Dash where the less sensational headline was "Three children arrrested and DNA tested after damaging a tree : http://www.24dash.com/content/news/viewNews.php?na vID=7&newsID=8462 Strangely the Mail article didn't turn up.

    Of course, we might speculate that the kids had saws and axes, but then we're stuck trying to explain why that wasn't mentioned by the police defending their actions.
    Probably because the story wouldn't have been as sensational. The Daily Mail has a habit of omitting/distorting facts in order to hype up what would otherwise be a non-story. It is a tabloid after all. http://www.24dash.com/content/news/viewNews.php?na vID=7&newsID=8462 for example has the headline "Three children arrested and DNA tested after damaging a tree" - Much more low key than "arrested for playing in a tree" as The Mail described it. From 24Dash:
    The spokeswoman said they were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and given a reprimand - the juvenile equivalent of a caution - which means their details will be kept on file for up to five years.
