Re:As well they should
The laws that we have make it hard to compete by virtue of screwing over your customers (more than is usual, anyway). As you note, PayPal is a shining example of that.
The laws cheerfully allow PayPal to screw over its customers - are you unaware? Meanwhile, it's nearly impossible to compete with PayPal. Therefore, PayPal will continue to screw over its customers whenever it feels like it, safe in the knowledge that the government is protecting its business model.

Re:PayPal has been at it for years!
screw-paypal.com is a sham in it self. You can tell, they disable the right click so you cannot get the menu to link or copy material from that web page.
I recommend any of those web pages instead.

Re:Shouldn't be too difficult..
how about these folks? or these? or perhaps this group or maybe one of the paypal horror-story contributors on this site?
but chances are it was probably just this guy. -
Re:Yeah. PayPalPowered
I can't believe this was modded Interesting - it's totally wrong. Have a look at the size of the PayPalSucks forums to get an idea of what I mean - size alone should give you an idea of what you're dealing with here.
Then go read one of their draconian user agreements, the ex-employee/whistleblower interviews (PayPalSucks and elsewhere), and maybe something like this. Or just google it?
I was ripped off myself - thankfully only for US$2.50 - for the crime of living outside the US and sending verification papers a month too slow. I logged in one day to find my account locked before even the first transaction, with big red bold text to the effect of "bugger off, we don't want your money". I made several calls to get it working again before finding PayPalSucks, but couldn't be bothered spending any more time fighting their obfuscation-fu. I'd suggest my case was more incompetence than malice, but I've seen (firsthand) much worse.
No offense meant, but please do a little research before making such sweeping claims. It's really annoying to see someone sing their praises after watching them get away with the kind of shit that they do. -

A PayPal donation would obviously be better
A PayPal donation would obviously not be better, they seem to be either crooks, or incompetent, or both.http://www.aboutpaypal.org/

Re:Fuck Paypal
Be thankful you can still even access your account. A similar thing happened to me -- and I was a long-time Paypal user (since their X.com days) with hundereds of successful transactions.
After waiting eight months they finally released the frozen funds, told me that my account was no longer "limited", and that I was once again free to use the system. Unfortunately, despite telling me otherwise, they forgot to actually take the limit off.
At that point, I was so disgusted with their mistakes and the countless hoops they had made me needlessly jump through, I decided I just wanted to get rid of my personal information from their system. I just wanted to close my account, and move on.
However, because they had forgotten to take the limit off, I couldn't even close my account. So I emailed their customer support. I forwarded them my previous correspondence, and their resposne stating that I was in the clear. I asked them to either take the limit off as they had originally stated (so I could close my account myself), or just close the account for me and remove my personal information from their system.
PayPal's response?

Gee, thanks PayPal! And sadly I'm by no means alone in this. So keep in mind, your personal information is by no means safe in the hands of PayPal. -
Point of Clarification: PayPal
yes, Ebay now owns paypal-
However what I'm referring to is problems where people paid through paypal, never got an item in return, and paypal said "sucks to be you. What do you want me to do about it?!"
Here is a link to Paypal's class action suits... read the front page story. -
