correct link
The correct link to the site is http://www.absoval.com. These people are among the nicest people I have ever met. They got me started in linux a few years ago and were just dying to help me. They also have great tastes in restaurants. I wish them the best of luck and hope they make lots of money.

Linux & IEEE 802.11 wireless
Actually, by looking at Apple's pages on AirPort, they will not be that expensive.
But anyhow, it seems that AirPort will play nicely with many other wireless networking products, the 802.11 being a standard and all.
And what is even better, a short search on AltaVista for Linux and IEEE 802.11 showed that some projects are already in place building Linux drivers for the 802.11 WLANs. Check out AbsoluteValue's page on it.
...just the thing for my home network. *grin* /Bergie

Linux and 802.11It appears that there is a Linux project to work with the 802.11 standard. Here is the abstract
The goal of the Linux WLAN project is to develop a complete, standards based, wireless LAN system using the GNU/Linux operating system. What differentiates this project from the Linux wireless extensions and other Linux wireless projects is that we're basing everything on the recently approved IEEE 802.11 standard.
