Re:How longWages are even higher in Europe, yet according to the story you import more electronics from Europe than you produce yourself. WRONG! According to the article, the U.S. imports more tech products from Europe than it does from Canada and Mexico (i.e. North America). It doesn't say anything about more tech goods being produced in Europe than the U.S..
The U.S. actually maintains a trade surplus in tech good with Europe, to the tune of $13 billion... Europeans buy far more U.S. tech products than the U.S. buys European tech products. http://www.aeanet.org/PressRoom/prac_TCS_2007.asp
China, and their cheap consumer electronics is where the overwelming majority of the U.S. deficit is coming from. Europe is in an even worse state in that regard. -
Re:Size
So. Korea being the size of about New Jersey
might be the reason broadband has deeper penetraton than in the US
New Jersey a population of about 8.6 million, of those about 693,000 were subscribed to broadband in 2003 or about 8%. This state is in the top 5 list of subscribers in America.
South Korea is about 38,023 sq. miles in size
New Jersey is about 8,721 sq. miles.
Virginia on the other hand is larger than South Korea, but close at 39,598 sq. miles. It would be less insulting to say that South Korea was the about the same size as on of the sothern states.
N.J. is smaller in terms of size and population than South Korea, yet has less in terms of percent of broadband subscribers. -

It's all about innovation...If you check out the About AEA page, you'll be confronted with some scary stuff:
It's all about innovation. It's all about competition. It's all about productivity, efficiency and success.
Is it me, or has Microsft permanently tainted the word "innovation"? As another
/.er's sig points out, you can tell how desperate they are by how many times they say the word "innovate"...You save money and gain clout. Most importantly you have a voice in Washington...
What do these guys do? They lobby for your needs and wants on the hill (trade association). GREAT!!! How do I sign up?... Us geeks need to get our voice into this channel to the whitehouse!
Wait, I can't. Because I must be a corporation. So how do we get a voice in this org? Does anyone here know anything more?
