Re:The comic is excellent
Alan Moore (creator of the comic) has publicly disavowed any connection with the film, had his name taken off the credits, and, as a result of some suit using his name in related publicity, severed other ties to the media conglomerate involved.
Read more about it.
But yes, buy the comic. It's good. While you're at it, pick up 'Watchmen', also by Moore. (The movie of which is currently 'in turnaround'.) -
Re:Actually...who would go on to make...
According to this bibliogrophy the first issue of Watchmen was published the same month as the Superman stories, Sept. 1986, so it looks like they both happened at the same time.

Re:You're my wife now...
That should have been modded funny. But that series has probably never aired in the US...
But IMO Alan Moore deserves more recognition than those actors, what a genious, the movie will be a hit i'm shore of it.
yep thats him in the picture -
Expanation - League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
"The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" is a very successful comic book written by Alan Moore, who also wrote "Watchmen" with Dave Gibbons (THE comic book of the '80s) and "From Hell" with Eddie Campbell (which was recently made into a movie with Johnny Depp and Heather Graham).
The comic book follows the adventures of several fictional Victorian characters (like Alan Quartermain and the Invisible Man).

Alan Moore is better at the Superhero Homage bit..
Alan Moore's various deconstructions of the Superhero genre (Watchmen, Miracleman, Swamp Thing) would be better written and more of an homage to the genre. Anyone care to guess when (if ever) Moore will get his chance to do movies?
