Re:Not sysadmin but lots of other stuff...
One of my friends loves using computers and wants to get a "computer job", but the Comp Sci classes he's tried to sign up for have Math pre-reqs and he's lousy at that.
In general, that's why Computer Science was seperated from Computer Programming. While math is a prerequisite for both courses, the latter puts much less focus on math by only teaching the 'basics'.
You will need to know math at the most basic level, even if you don't use it in day-to-day programs. While advanced math won't be necessary for most situations, don't be suprised when you do. -

As a soon to be grad...
As a soon to be graduate from the Compute Science program at Algonquin College I can tell you that even though it has course like Data Structures, Compilers, etc... Local Universities only give you a few credits and that's for the math and physics in the first year of the program.
Universities often times don't like Colleges -
Re:Sadly this is news...
Um somehow I doubt that. You still have to sort, purify, etc all that combined waste to get something usefull. Sure if landfills were already neatly sorted in their constituent elements it may be a mining resource. As it is now they're just messes.
As a sign of stupidy abound my school recently switched from paper trays for pizza slices to styrofoam containers. Hazaa for progress!

Re:from criminal defense law firm... but I don't have Windows 98 at home. I really don't. I have Slackware, and Mandrake on various PCs, but no Windows 98. My laptop runs Windows 2000 or Slackware depending on what classes I'm doing in college during any particular semester. I don't use KDE, but I am anxious for Slack 8.2 or 9.0 (whatever it will be called) to be released so I can use GNOME 2. I guess I could compile it myself, but I am too busy and Patrick et al do it so well. That doesn't mean I don't like games, that's what a boyfriend's computer is for.
I apologise for using the term 'nerdy' inappropriately. I would have responded to you more directly, but the only complete sentence you used was you'll be tarred and gzipped and perhaps feathered too for using a term such as that 'round these parts. The rest was unintelligible. I guess the inability to communicate is what makes one 'nerdy'.
