I'm assuming that you're trying to avoid MS Outlook for whatever reason, and "Thunderbird" by some miracle never crossed your desk. Windows Live Mail isn't bad at all (it's still even a usenet reader!) Opera Mail, Zimbra Mail, and eM client are all excellent and free.

There is no shortage of either form of software. Alternativeto.net and Softpedia are great resources for this kind of thing.

As it stands now nothing but commercial encoders are accessing this I believe as Intel came to the table VERY late for the x.264 guys.

Blu-Ray *should* have at least a fallback standard AC3 track for primary audio, but some don't, even now in the early days. If prior formats are any example, these sort of soft limits get ignored more and more often as the format ages.

So to recap; Blu-Ray *should* have AC3 or a DTS core of the primary English audio. Players *should* be able to output legacy DTS. SPDIF *should* always work.


In practice that is not the case.

That's not a failing of the DRM, though, so I'm prepared to drop it and let the rest of the comment stand.
