Re:Microsoft new slogan
Dunno, but if these guys are a Wal-Mart UK equivelant
I believe the UK Walmart is ASDA http://www.asda.co.uk/, owned by Walmart and Tesco's biggest rival.
But ethically all UK supermarkets are not to be trusted too closely, their combined buying power has allowed them to destroy british farmers, independant butchers, local bakers etc.
However it could be aruged that they have done this in the benefit of the consumer, and going up against Microsoft certainly would be in the benefit of us consumers. The more people in the UK having something other than Windows, forces organisations such as the BBC to produce for platforms other than WindowsMedia, IE and Windows.
Lets just hope it isn't just Tesco that does this. -
Re:Monopoly?
The UK has a WalMart, just not called WalMart:
Asda, http://www.asda.co.uk/ is the name they use in in the UK. True they bought out an existing company.
Tessco and others were around in the UK with their super centers offering more than just groceries long before Walmart even opened one of the their super centers. And I wouldn't put it past WM for "swiping" the concept from Tessco and others. -

Re:That's not a software giant, THIS is a ...I personally don't know of any Wal Mart in The Netherlands too...
Dunno. For all I know, they haven't tried there yet - google is unrevealing about Wal Mart's activities in the Netherlands.
...iirc Wal Mart only has (a) store(s) in the UK?I don't know how many Wal Mart branded stores they have there, but they do own this - notice the logo in the upper left

Re:Wal-MartMaybe Asda will start doing them now they're owned by Wal-mart.

Re:capitalism--monopolies
Wal-Mart doesn't even exist in Europe
WTF are you talking about? Wal-Mart owns Asda, one of the biggest supermarket chains in the UK, and they also operate under the Wal*Mart name in Germany.
Not directly relevant to your comment, but apposite all the same, outside Europe, they list stores in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Korea, Mexico and Puerto Rico. -
Re:sound cards
Wal-mart recently acquired ASDA, a UK supermarket chain with the same "pile it high, sell it cheap" philosophy. It's a while since I've been in the UK, never mind an ASDA store, but I'm fairly sure they sold some household appliances, and they even sold cars in-store at one point, sorta like CostCo, but without the membership.
ObTrivia: ASDA was an abbreviation for ASsociated DAiries.
