Re:The socket game.Maybe some sneaky person will solve this new socket problem the same way they solved the Celeron socket problem:
I just bought a new play server and want the price performance of a celeron but want to be able to move to a PIII if I need it.
So after a little searching I found that some smart guy has made a slot 1 board with a socket 370 mount on it. So i pop the celeron on that and then use my PIII compatible motherboard.
Hopefully someone will do the same for this new AMD socket 423, because if all the reports I see are correct, the Athlon screams.
BTW, those sneaky people who made the converter, Asus. ASUS S370 "Slocket" CPUConverter

Want FireWire - Get an ASUS P3B-1394
Fortunately for us poor consumers, there are companies out there willing to build add-on/in FireWire solutions. Our company is using some of them to interface to Kodak / Canon pro digital cameras. In fact, for folks interested in motherboards which support FireWire (besides those they can get from a PC mfr like Sony), I just stumbled across the new ASUS P3B-1394 motherboard! Frankly, I gotta laugh at Intel for releasing a sel-serving quote like "1394 deployment into the PC platform has proceeded more slowly than expected," - if they're too cowardly to take the lumps supporting a new technology in their own chipsets, then they should keep their mouths shut.

Re:Some of us HAVE to use 3dfx Voodoo cards
The Asustek v3800 and the Elsa Erazor III both support these(TV in & out). If you don't think that will work for you, grab any TNT2 or TNT2 Ultra board and a Hauppage WinTV 98 . The single card or the combo should do everything your old cards did, only faster.
So there you have it, the NVidia based boards that do everything you want, or a two board solution (like you have now), that does everything you want. But why would you want to watch TV? Don't you know it rots your brain? :)
