Re:Wikipedia Meme Waning
Yeah, well... It's easy to spot "trends" when you draw the trend lines yourself, by hand.
Take a look at the actual Google Trends graphic for wikipedia. Look at the Alexa data and the blogpulse data.
Now, honestly tell me if you can find an "inflection point" in them... I tried and I can't. -
more like top 100 random sites
Many of those are NOT search engines at all (at most sites with a search feature) and many fairly well known, useful and actual search engines are ignored - where is technorati? where is boardtracker? blogpulse? sphere?
At least the 'author' could have done 5 mins research to find something actually relating to the title..

Blogpulse
Blogpulse makes similar little graphs based its blog database. The data is taken from blog entries not search info. (I'm somewhat on topic... right? Look over there! Cool graphs!) The lastest trends in the blogosphere are listed in Blogpulse's Featured Trends.
Here are some of Google's Zeitgeist examples in Blogpulse for the last 6 months:
Libby vs. Rove vs. Plame
Katrina vs. Rita

Too late for nightmares...
If Technorati or other bloggers are having nightmares about blog search, it's way too late. Frankly, since having a successful blog is all about being read, I think that bloggers would clamor for good search tools.
Speaking of which, there's been a workshop on blogs and blog search at the past couple WWW conferences. Here's some links:
