Kicking the Big Dog
I couldn't help but think of this with the mention of the big dog getting kicked... http://bootstrike.com/LaughterHell/Featured/kick12.php

Re:!embryonic
That is part of why I doubt it, especially since we are talking about mammals & not amphibians, so they don't have "equivelant" stages
Way off. Embryology is very heavily conserved, such that while there are clear differences, there are also clear similarities. An egg gets fertilized to make a one cell stage, cell division makes a hollow space called the blastula stage, the part that becomes the embryo is one cell layer thick. A pocket forms that becomes the gut, that's the gastrula stage. The part of the embryo that becomes the central nervous system makes a tube, that's the neurula stage.
After that point, things start to diverge more, but up until that point the two do have the same stages.
Here are some pictures of blastulas.

As you can see, quite similar. There are certainly equivalent stages.
Here's a wiki page on "embryo" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embryo) Notice it says just "animals," many places and doesn't specify which species? It's not laziness.
Maybe you should take his class?

Re:For the love of god...
There's a difference between bad graphics and bad art.
Diablo running on a much less powerful system than the reqs for the Spiderware games. Much less. Lower res.
You can see what everything is in this. There's no interface around the edge that's five times brighter than the actual game. The brightnesses of the characters are matched to the backgrounds they'll be on.
This isn't a matter of paying thousands of dollars to expensive designers to do thousands of pictures. These are simple layout mistakes that make the Spider games very hard to see.
I love retro gaming. Nothing wrong with 320x200 in my book... but you have to make your interface useably clear.
Ultima Underworld
Same deal. In this case they didn't even have a full 256 colours for the interface because they had to reserve most of the colourspace for 3-D shading. Still clear and well designed. The interface frame is just *one picture*. Not expensive to make... but it's critical that it be done right.
If you were playing your text MUD with green text on a hot pink background, you'd see that even with brilliant gameplay and *no* graphics the visual design matters. -
Re:Other favorites
You can actually get to Claw Island in SI without cheating. From http://www.bootstrike.com/Ultima7si/Online/faq2.h
t ml
Cat Isle (also called CLAW) has all the items you need to complete the game. To get to Cat Isle without cheating, you want to start in one of the tree gardens in Monitor. I believe it is approximately 4 or 5 houses west of Lucilla's pub. You need is 3 crates or something equivalent. The garden has a southern entrance and a few trees immediately to the west of the entrance. I believe the closest tree is the one we want. Pile up your makeshift staircase behind the tree (close to the tree trunk), so that the top stair of your staircase is directly behind the tree trunk (again, I'm pretty certain this is correct, but I can't be sure). Climb the stairs and you should find yourself on Cat Isle.
That you can get there without the developer mode sometimes makes people less likely to consider it cheating. -
Re:WhateverWhy are we even wasting time on the Ultime Online series? It's just another Everquest clone that three people outside of Korea will ever play.
Christ almighty, are you really that fucking stupid? Here is Ultima VII, and here is Ultima Online. RTFA, check out the links, and then come back and say something. I won't even bother to go into the timeline regarding the release dates of Ultima Online and EverQuest. Fucking 'tard...

Re:No vaporware here-Maybe
Waidaminute, that's no Windows XP screenshot! (Warning really large JPEG) The label of the icons on the desktop have a plain colored rectangle background, something which all version of Windows have, except for XP. Suspicious...
