Re:What's new about this?
Edison is supposed to have invented the electric chair in order to prove how dangerous AC was.

Re:have your cake and eat it too?
specific examples
four cases
Police and prosecutors blocked all attempts at DNA testing while Johnson was alive
prosecutors blocked dna testing of hair
prosecutors have successfully blocked the testing of DNA before an execution and then fought posthumous tests just as vigorously.
Why did the DA stop new DNA tests ?

Re:Not just Americans
If you break American law (e.g. this one) and live in any country (like the UK) which has an extradition treaty with the USA you can be brought to America and charged with the crime.
There is SO MUCH bullshit floating around in this thread.
So if you trade with an American you can expect a free holiday in an American prison.Even countries that have an extradition treaty do not extradite for every offense! They also have the right to impose conditions. For example, Canada will not agree to extraditing people wanted for murder if there is no prior agreement not to seek the death penalty, as that would go against Canada's laws http://www.ccadp.org/deathpenalty-canada.htm
Under the terms of the Canada/USA extradition treaty, Canada
I seriously doubt that any country will agree to extradition in such cases.
may choose to refuse an extradition request without assurances that
US prosecutors will not seek or impose the death penalty. In a
number of recent cases, US prosecutors have voluntarily agreed not
to seek the death penalty in order to obtain the prompt return of
murder suspects. -

Re:Canada-Runs!
Also, they won't extradite if the punishment they're facing is unconstitutional in Canada... Specifically death penalty cases:
Here's the supreme court decision on it
Basically, they won't extradite until the jurisdiction takes the death penalty off the table. -
Re:Luh-luh-looser
I'll see your lame link and raise you the truth.
Truth? The link you provided doesn't include any more truth than the Wired story, just that he plead guilty, instead of continuing to be held indefinitely against his will.
You're aware that a confession doesn't necessarily mean that the person is guilty, right? (And don't think that this doesn't happen in the US.
"limited" access is not the same as "no access,"
So, it's OK to violate someone's constitutional rights, as long as it's only a little bit, right? -
Re:Don't worry...
once Bush hears that this is an "international treaty", he'll back out of it because of US interests.
Oh, he'll sign it, but that doesn't matter, because the 50 states can safely ignore it. Really, they can, because Federal treaties are not binding on the states! This is according to George W. Bush himself: "Texas did not sign the Vienna Convention, so why should we be subject to it?" Statement from the office of Texas Governor George W. Bush
So please write your state Attorney General and ask that they please ignore this treaty.
Also, and more importantly, write your Senators and ask that they not ratify it in the first place.
