A slight cloud on the horizon
"Such expert reports are usually written, edited, and published in the normal newspapers or even on other websites. But Wikipedia is radically different: articles there continually grow with input from numerous authors, who often remain anonymous. The end product is constantly changing, and third parties can publish their own texts or even change yours." The future authors will therefore receive some training to help them work with Wikipedia.'"
The last person to try recruiting people to edit Wikipedia for money got banned, and his reputation besmirched by the screaming idiots who administer Wikipedia. Fortunately he doesn't care now
There's only one problem with editing Wikipedia as an expert - you'll be buried by the hordes of ignoramuses who know better than you because they've got Google and there's more of them than there is of you.
If you're of a classical bent, you'd call it a Sisyphian struggle - but if you're on Slashdot you'd call it "shovelling shit against the tide". -
Business deserves better
There's another wiki that's just getting started, called http://www.centiare.com/. It's much like Wikipedia, but with two HUGE differences:
(A) If you're a business, organization, or individual, there is ownership of your Directory page. No more vandals saying you went bankrupt because you lost a pickle-eating contest.
(B) Semantic tagging. If you know what this means, I needn't say more. If you don't know what it means, check out the ASK query at the bottom of http://www.centiare.com/Portal:List, and you should begin to understand the wild potential of semantic tags in a wiki environment.
Jimmy Wales did a wonderful thing by co-creating Wikipedia; but in his pursuit of "Neutral Point of View" and eliminating all appearances of "conflict of interest", he's lost sight of the fact that 95% of editors of Wikipedia have a point of view and/or a conflict of interest. They are all welcome at Centiare.com. -

PayPal 'Instant Payment Notification' in PHPI use PayPal's 'Instant Payment Notification' (IPN) feature for my software download site at www.Centiare.com. Once the user's cc info is verified on PP's end, PP and I exchange a series of transmittals before the user is allowed access to my secure download center. It takes around a microsecond and is all done in PHP and https - it works really well.
If you want to see it in action, go to Centiare. If you have any tech questions, send me a private reply at karln@centiare.com. Oh, before I forget:
So, my wife wants to know why I think advertising on the Internet would be a good idea. But first, I should probably explain the family dynamic: she's an Ivy League grad and attorney while I have a UC degree and CPA certificate. Usually, she's the one who is right, so I figure I should probably listen (as if I have a choice).
I figure it makes pretty good economic sense, since many different sites with low CPM rates still get over a million page views per day. Problem is, she replies, there's probably only around 150-200k unique visitors at any of these respective locations, each of whom is triggering around 5-7 page views per person per day.
And besides, she continued, using the Jungean Archetype model to illustrate her point, the target audience is devoted to reason, not emotion. This, I concede, defeats one of my central tenets: applying a test to determine whether a person is Apollonian or Dionysian, left-brain or right-brain, etc. in order to assess the likelihood of downloading Centiare, my cool little cash management/forecasting program for individuals and small businesses.
Centiare quickly and automatically calendarizes projected deposits, payments and running cash balances over any time period selected - the output looks like a spreadsheet. But since transactions are stored in a database, the way it works is through a series of SQL pivot/transformation functions. The results are stored within multiple counter arrays to keep track of time periods, monthly totals, and grand totals. Once the recordset is complete, viola', the whole thing is formatted and printed - the flash report looks really good.
And besides, it's free to try, and only $20 to buy!
