    I just checked using over my Verizon mobile phone and sure enough there is the X-UIDH header.

    I just checked with my AT&T mobile phone and found an "x-acr" header which seems to serve much the same purpose, so switching away from Verizon might not help. (The header is not present when accessing the site through a VPN, so it wasn't sent by the browser.)

    The content seems to be based on the Anonymous Customer Reference concept promoted by the GSM Alliance.

    I just checked using http://centralops.net/co/ over my Verizon mobile phone and sure enough there is the X-UIDH header. Well, this cements my plan to switch carriers in a month when my contract expires. Any tips on moving to a pay-as-you-go plan that lets me keep my phone number?

    It's pretty easy to figure out who he is. I did it in 1 minute and two searches:
    1. WHOIS search for endsoftpatents.org
    2. Google search for Ben Klemens
    OK, that's the guy.

    I'm all for adding support for non-latin characters. However, I do realize the problems with different encodings, similar looking characters, etc. Perhaps there should be a system that knows that certain characters are equivalent? I imagine that might cause some significant overhead...

    One odd thing about the site is that the www.openlinux.org address resolves (at least from here) as 131.188.40.90 which according to a Network whois is in a netblock owned by the University of Erlangen, Nuremberg.

    The domain name does look to be SCO owned though according to the domain whois.
