Re:Neat but I'm torn.Chiropractic is a scam
Chiropractic is quackeryBut most of all, Bob you trolling quack, the main reason everybody mods you into oblivion is that no matter what the damn slashdot topic actually is, you always twist it into an excuse for shilling chiropracty. The topic could be 64-bit firefox, ethernet, Bill Gates and Toilets, it doesn't matter, you twist into another advert for your own snakeoil. You obviously don't care about the actual topic or slashdot; you just want to advertise your ailing business and that's the only reason you're here.
You're a just a spammer, and a spammer of quackery which is the lowest form of spammery.
This is not the place to shill your business, be it car repair, carpentry, origami, or quackery (as in your case). This is not an ad forum. Stick to the damn article topic or GTFO.

Mencken on Chiropractic.
My favorite quote: "The chiropractic therapeutics rest upon the doctrine that the way to get rid of such pinches is to climb upon a table and submit to a heroic pummeling by a retired piano-mover. This, obviously, is buncombe doubly damned."

Re:WhyWhy would you care where people give their earned money? Groceries, taxes, cars are all ok, but the church of their choice or gasoline or gambling - then "you" have a problem? (I don't know your beliefs, the "you" is a collective "you" religious types). scientology exhibition which attempts to portray psychiatrists as evil nazi type torturers Well, with this I have to agree. Psychiatrists do harm, but nowhere near as much as most religions. Only Chiropratic is worse in my book. Yes, massages feel good. No, they don't cure **everything** from a sore big toe to a head ache as most chiropractors would sell you. http://www.chirobase.org/16Victims/smith.html
Clearly I'm going to hell and I know you'll be praying for me. Thanks. If you're praying, at least then you aren't typing or speaking that gibberish of faith. Science - true science for what can be proved using the scientific method is my religion. Calling something "science" doesn't make it so any more than calling something a religion and believing in "God" makes that true. Yes, there is a mystery of faith http://www.kofc.org/publications/columbia/detail.c fm?id=2273 - why would anyone believe it?
Prove it. Double-blind proof. http://godisimaginary.com/i2.htm -
Re:back pain
I've found some relief from Chiropractic care as well, with a competant and honest practictioner found via a personal referral from a friend. I've seen multiple shady guys practicing as well, but agree that if you find a good one they can provide substantial relief from some types of back and neck pain (I had a fair amount of both, resulting from bad posture while at my PC and reading with my head in a bad position).
The main problem I have with their approach is that it corrects the symptoms without addressing the underlying cause, which can easily lead to a really severe problem down the road. I watched a case of Chiropractic care gone really wrong, where his response to the patient should have been "you need to see a doctor immediately" after seeing the X-rays. That person ended up getting an emergency cervical fusion, and found that going to a Chiropractor first caused major problems with their health insurance coverage, as they immediately wanted to blame them for the resulting problems.
I have my doubts about their ability to recognize their own limits. Chiropractic has a small range of applications (problems which happen to occur to a larger number of people), but I wouldn't recommend it except to manage a problem that's already been diagnosed by a doctor as mild but recurring. The plentiful warnings at Chirobase are well deserved.
I was thankful to have my pain level drop to a manageable level via his banging away at spots with his little adjustment tool. As soon as I was able to, I promptly began working out the problem areas at the gym and using back exercises recommended by my doctor (he had a little cartoon pamphlet on back pain that I laughed at originally, but the sample excercises at the end rock; wish I had it handy to give more details). That routine has slowly built my muscle and flexibility back up to where my pain is almost gone, and I have no intention or need to see the chiropractor again. -

Re:It might not even be your wrist
A chiropractor which who I'm assuming you saw is the best person to ask
Or you could see a real physician. Be sceptical of chiropractic care. It's flimflammery.

[ Tangential, not offtopic, but this is my final comment. Promise

Outline of the problems with the chiropratic "science".
Basically, it was invented by a con-man, has never been proven (no-one has ever even *seen* a "subluxation", or demonstrated any kind of "spinal adjustment" ie. measurable change), and it's absolutely appalling that tax dollars go into it. What next, faith healing?
