    Is there some religion or another that insists on reality? So that I can claim religious persecution by these fundies? Of course, the Church of Reality.

    Freedom of religion should not be extended to religions that are clearly made up.

    Um, wouldn't that be all religions? Not the Church of Reality.

    i did follow up on the religious links provided. but none of them specifically mention they are under the GPL so i don't think they'd allow me to view the source code or modify them at will.

    The Church of Reality claims explicitly to be an open-source religion under the terms of the GPL.

    The problem is that in order to believe in god you have to take a very unscientific perspective on things.

    There's an inconsistency in using science in your life but making an exeption regarding your religion.

    There ARE religions that are more sensical though:

    So, lets see, I should leave out the cruelty and violence, the intolerence, the contradictions, the injustice, and the absurdities.

    What does that leave, exactly?

    Or, I could just, you know, decide for myself what is right, based on my experiences and readings, and believe in reality, rather than thousands of year old mythologies because hank told me to.

    Trek is the opiate of the masses. As long as people aren't dieing virgins, the species should survive. Worst case scenario when geeks intermarry is Asperger's syndrome so I say go for it.

    Also, if hope is all someone has in their life, do you really want to take that away from them?
