Expect Rapid Physical Modeling
This is actually one of the advances I had predicted many years ago. The next steps are interesting but ultimately you end up with what I refer to as "Rapid Physical Modeling" where in you can take an object, do a quick 360 view of it and then capture it's physical properties by manipulating it. A simple example is demonstrating how a potted plant can bend and it's ability to bend and spring back are inferred. The obvious benefit of this is that you can quickly model things with complex interactive response. With a little data regarding the material, clothing for your character could quickly be modeled and react properly (think folding) to the characters physical movements.
I'm looking forward to characters in Final Fantasy XVIII having to constantly adjust their clothing because it's construction patently absurd.

Re:Wth are they doing?
That is a peak for one 30 minute period. It is some function of the way the market is controlled, for instance yesterday the price peaked at $3/kWh, yet for the rest of the day it has hovered around $0.10 per kWh
Here's the past and future price estimates over 24 h

And here is the far more entertaining power flow between the states
https://www.aemo.com.au/Electr...
As I write the '57%' renewable SA system is absorbing all the coal power it can get from Victoria and its '57%' renewable generators are actually supplying less than 20% of the state's needs.
Here's a snapshot on a nice sunny windless day last Saturday where SA's renewable generators were producing virtually nothing. It demonstrates that you have to have 100% baseload generation, you cannot rely on renewables to replace them, at least until we install hundreds of batteries the size of the one in SA.

Re:Never was a hosting solution
I use Cloudinary. Their "free" level is more than enough for me, and you can do some transformation of your images. They allow the hosting and streaming of video (I don't do that, but it would seem that you would quickly run out of "free" bandwidth). Seems rock solid, and for the 1K images or so that I host and link to from there, not one issue.

Re:While It Sucks...
55mph is pretty fast if you use the right road. Good luck holding 35.

One option is an image processing co.
There are several companies out there who do nothing but handle image processing "in the cloud". They could be used as simple bulk file transfers, or they might help solve the real problem â" dealing with large, uncompressed images.
I know of two off the top of my head:
- Cloudinary: They will handle everything for you, including the storage and file conversions on the fly or via a pre-defined script.
- Transloadit: They don't handle the storage, but instead interact with an Amazon S3 bucket you provide. Image conversion requires creating a "script" in the web interface, but otherwise they are fairly similar.
In either case, your clients can upload the files directly to their servers, and the 3rd party company can begin converting immediately (if you choose).
