Re:Not exactly any license.
It does mention BSD several times in project listings (i.e. there are projects released under it there), but that's it.
By the way, since I posted the comment, the website does mention GPL now, in a new post to the CodePlex Foundation blog:
The CodePlex Foundation is completely free and open source software license agnostic. The Foundation is also technology agnostic. If you want to use AGPL or GPLv3 or BSD or EPL, the Foundation has no opinion and will happily support your project or gallery. If you want to run on Mac OSX, Linux, Windows or all three, the Foundation likewise doesn't have an opinion.

Re:Not exactly any license.
From http://www.codeplex.org/About2/FAQ/Mission.aspx (emphasis mine):
The Foundation has no pre-suppositions about particular projects, platforms, or open source licenses.
Doesn't sound hostile to the GPL to me.

How's this a story?Right on the front page is a status update:
December 9, 2009. CodePlex Foundation Launches Search for Executive Director, Technical Director Moving to meet its 100 day goals, the CodePlex Foundation today announced that it has launched a search for a permanent, full-time Executive Director and Technical Director. Individuals chosen for the positions will guide the Foundation in its mission of facilitating the participation of corporate software developers in open source projects while providing a channel of communication from the open source community back to software companies.
This is dated 12/9, a full ten days before the 100 day deadline. Besides, how often does a large scale foundation ever stick to its original schedule?

Cant help myself...
But i take anything Monty says these days with a heavy dosage of salt, especially if it happens to coincide with Microsofts current viewpoint.

Recommended reading is this from his blog:

Doing a character assasination with those gems in mind would be redundant. Its obvious Microsoft is scared shit that Oracle will undercut it in the SMB market with MySQL and Oracles wast support structure. Call in the drones.

Microsoft Front
Half the Board of Directors, and half of the Advisory Board are from Microsoft. Why should we think that this anything but a Microsoft front?
The about page says "Our Board of Directors is an interim board" and that they will pick the new board but that's no too encouraging given who's doing the picking. CodePlex seems like Microsoft trying to create a community. -
Re:Since it is EU that is dragging
Widenius sits on the advisory board of the Codeplex Foundation, the non-profit sponsored by Microsoft: http://www.codeplex.org/board-of-directors.aspx
As far as I can tell, Monty is employed by his own company, Monty Program AB. I did not find any indication in the groklaw article that Monty is employed by Microsoft.
There is of course the link with MS. I suppose that, in the eyes of some, he's just as much a traitor as de Icaza.
