Re:Everything you use are made in Switzerland?
Cowon (english site makes music players and mini-tablets that are made in South Korea. They are also some of the best on the market, but tend to be harder to find/buy due to their lack of marketing and they are a Korean company, with very little to no North American market visibility.

Re:For the uninformed
It is a bit off topic but I figured I'd respond. I'm not sure if you tried it but it is free and I personally like it a great deal. Give JetAudio a shot. The pay version is nicer but, as a player, it's fantastic though I prefer the older versions.

mod parent up. Best DAP for Linux users.
See:

Reasons for wanting Iaudio 6
0. Advertises Linux support.
1. Supports Free software codecs. Ogg Vorbis and even Flac.
2. Best audio quality of any DAP in this price range time and time again. Better then any Ipod.
3. Advertises Linux support.
4. Small with good battery life.
5. Has USB Host support. This is so you can do things like have usb-based storage devices if you want, or you can hook up your camera and stuff like that.
6. Plays small videos, has good picture viewer.
7. Does recording (unfortunately in wma format)
8. Neat looking.
9. Advertises Linux support.
It's supports ID3 tags also, which is new for iaudio products. No special software is required like for ipods and such. You just copy over music files and they are accessable via the player immediately.
For a person who cares about audio quality a pair of high quality headphones with this player and flac format will provide the best audio quality currently attainable for a mobile player device without breaking the bank. -
Re:don't fix linux, fix the damn ipod
Buy an audio player from Cowon. http://www.cowon.com/ . It sounds like they will meet your needs much better than an ipod, and the U3 line (which I own 2 of) is at least as durable as an iPod, likely moreso since it is solid-state.
As much as Apple would hate people to know it, they are not the only option, and for many people, they aren't even a good option... -
Re:Portable music players
Are there any portable music players that support
.ogg vorbis yet? (and are they any good?)Many; probably most (in terms of brands, obviously not in terms of number of units). All will also play mp3, most will play wma, many will play flac, almost all will play a range of other formats too. For starters try the iAudio and Rio ranges. Both offer both flash and HDD players. Also lots of mobile phones, even digital watches, support ogg playing (though in a few cases, only via a soft/firmware update). Just google. There's lots out there.
My personal favourite: iAudio. They've got some fantastic products, also including stuff like hand-held XviD/DivX players, etc. Sound quality: as good as or better than the iPod. Battery life: definitely better than the iPod. Price: not as cheap as older iPods, but still very well-priced IMHO.

Re:Arghh....
I think a better product is the Cowon iAudio CW200.
It has 256 MB of memory (not quite the 384 MB that your Rio has), and looks to be smaller than the Rio. And it has a much more compact shape and in my judgement, is more pleasing to the eye.
I bought one for my wife and she loves it ...
