Well you could always try Crackle

crackle
Sony already has a TV service for the playstation. It is called crackle and it sucks: http://www.crackle.com/

Re:Next up: tiered pricing
We'll get there some day, the pricing will eventually align with the higher rungs on the value chain.
In the meantime, FYI, you can find many first-run and catalog Sony films at Crackle.com (they even have a Roku channel if you're in to that sort of thing). Crackle is Sony's Hulu-wannabe for their content. No, I don't know why it exists either.

There are about 10 good shows out there, and...
I'm an indie filmmaker myself (used to be a tech nerd a few years ago, but turned into movie magic 3 years ago). I'm constantly trying to find such good shows too, online. And I have quite a list for you.
:-)- Continuum, scifi: http://www.facebook.com/ContinuumTV (shot with a Canon 7D dSLR)
- Pink http://www.pinktheseries.com/
- http://mindseyeseries.com/
- http://www.crackle.com/c/Trenches
- http://www.asylumseries.com/ (shot with a RED One)
- http://www.crackle.com/c/Urban_Wolf
- condition:Human http://vimeo.com/user1160921
- http://compulsions.tv/
- and of course, the videos in these two Vimeo Channels: http://vimeo.com/channels/hd and http://vimeo.com/channels/staffpicks if you have a Roku, or a GoogleTV you can view most of these shows above via RSS, or via the Vimeo application for these two platforms. The videos in these two Vimeo channels, are really, really good indie work. There's one more sci-fi web series coming out soon, but I can't remember its name. They use Canon dSLRs to shoot it.
Feel free to email me btw, if you like to discuss any of that, I'm a lot into indie filmmaking: http://eugenia.queru.com/

VOD - profit vs. use
I don't mind VOD / pay for new movies. I can see people paying for latest-run TV shows, I guess.
And there's a lot of BBC stuff I'd like to be able to stream, legally - with some sort of reasonable model.
I'd like to see Doctor Who and whatever that series was that had the British flying around trying to sell franchises, as well as many others - any of the early BlackAdders come to mind as well.
But these are OLD tv shows. You can make a few bucks selling ads and selling ads for DVD / Blu-ray discs. Consider the following VOD:
http://www.slashcontrol.com/free-tv-shows/babylon-5 (yes - all five seasons)
Next ones go without saying:
And here's the best content manager I know:
Note to BBC - I hear your iplayer is working now. Great. We don't need the DRM or the extra charges for shows that will come around in rerun on the same non-tiered channels we saw them on outside of your country in the first place - cheers, thanks a lot.
