If you make a package for debian stable it should work in all ubuntu and xandros versions newer than debian stable. If it doesn't then the ubuntu/xandros devs can fix it. Same goes for the redhat, fedora , mandrake tree.

Heck just look at all the version of winxp, litexp, winlite, nlite, 98lite....
