Re: That is not mocking
Closeup of the first example and the second example.
In general these machines are a lot simpler than your common ATM. It is kind of weird that someone mixed those machines up, which makes me think that it might have been a 'simple' (although quite dangerous) act of vandalism. -

Judge doesn't get the Internet ..
"Judge Katherine Forrest
.. was unhappy with its "mumbo-jumbo" explanation of the anonymizing service Tor.
More like her Honor doesn't get BITCOIN, TOR or the Internet. She should have the jury read these documents, assuming they can work out how to use the 'Internet' ..

Re:Japan is still pretty backwards in some ways
It's funny that there'd be an http://slashdot.org/~girl I think someone created that account to be ironic, and there is no activity from it whatsoever.
I'm doing good with a positive karma, it used to be excellent, but now they cap me at 25 posts per 24 hrs (why can't they do 24 posts), but I'm doing much better than the top in the thread poster Tyrannicsupremacy with his http://i.cubeupload.com/T6cyLu... terrible karma.
As far as the main topic is concerned, in Japan people understand the KISS principle. A telegram is an extremely simplistic way of communicating, though too bad they stopped Morse coding them in the 60s. According to wikipedia,
"The principle most likely finds its origins in similar concepts, such as Occam's razor, Leonardo da Vinci's "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication", Mies Van Der Rohe's "Less is more", or Antoine de Saint Exupéry's "It seems that perfection is reached not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away""All you have to do is look at the furniture in a traditional Japanese paper room. There is almost zero, except a low lying coffee or tea table, and two floor pillows to sit on next to it. I don't know how much simpler a functional room can get than that.

Re:Mixing insensitive and sensitive content
To add to the heap of bad practices in relation to the current conversation, I'll repeat my earlier comment that Slashdot has still not renewed their certificate, and thus even subscribers are in a bit of a pickle with regard to TLS unless they happen to have previously noted the key fingerprint of the now-expired certificate and place rather high trust in the internal integrity of Slashdot operations. Given the circumstances, I could not in good professional conscience recommend such trust.

Re:Good point, except...
On an entirely separate note, it seems Slashdot still has not renewed their own certificate.
