Re:Label it then
I don't know that letting people say their food is "GMO-free" is much better as that's kinda implying that GMO is a bad thing. It's like tropical oils. In the 1980's a marketing company, working for the American soybean industry, got foods made with soybean oil (instead of tropical oils) to say "contains no tropical oils", as though tropical oils are a bad thing. They were playing on the fact that a lot of foods already do this for other things. eg. "contains no msg", etc.
Anyway, the FTC shut that down quick:

NSAIDs and Ice Interfere With Training, Healing
At least one study says NSAIDs Interfere with Proper Training. Surprisingly, so does ice!
Here's an interesting page with a small study(search for "McMaster" of a group of 11 subjects that seems to indicate massage is very useful (even better than exercise?) - Weird! Also it has a note on ibuprofen and NSAIDs.

Challenge the establishment!I suffer from "Adult Onset Asthma"- the first symptoms happened when I was about 27. Every doctor I've talked to about it wants me to get allergy shots, take antihisthamenes, and bronchodialators. At best, these things have just served to mask some of my symptoms. There is big business in maintainence medicines for asthma- keep treating the symptoms, and they are on your medicine for life. The only drug that was truly effective was an inhaler based medicine called Serevent. This medicine got pulled because of the "non-ozone friendly" propellant- at what looks like a time shortly before the patent was about to expire (and go generic). Right on the heels of that, came "Advair" - which is a mixture of the medicine that worked for me from Serevent, plus an anti-inflammatory (steroid- which I've taken, but don't help me much), with brand new patent protection.
On the other hand, there is a radio Doctor that I used to listen to, Dr. Gabe Mirkin that has preached for years about treating adult onset asthma with anti-biotics. As far as I'm aware, he's not an internist- but he does read a lot of medical journals with a doctor's eye, so he was one of the early ones to pick up on the work on ulcers and infection, and preach about that on his radio show. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any doctors that were willing to try and treat my Asthma with antibiotics. I can only hope that sometime before the asthma kills me, I at least get a shot at trying to cure this disease, rather than just playing catch-up with the symptoms.
N.B.: Dr. Mirkin was also one of the early people to preach about using Fen-Phen for weight loss. While it was effective for some, it could also be dangerous. I think this is the risk of any new treatment- but unless we take some risks, we will never have progress in medicine.

Re:I kind of agree, but...
Since you apparently lack the reading comprehension skills to have noticed this the first time around, Several recent papers show that allergies may be caused by lack of work for your immune system. When a germ gets into your blood stream, you make proteins called antibodies that attach to and kill that germ. If you have few infections early in life, your antibodies look for something to attack, even if it is not an invading germ: It may attack dust mites or cat dander or ragweed pollen. However, before you try to give your young child an infection, realize that this is just a theory, has not been proved yet, and may be wrong. In addition, your "cleaner and cleaner approach"'s fear of all germs is exactly the reason behind the growing problem of drug resistance. So yes, it works, but I doubt that creating drug resitance was your original goal.

>I benefit if my neighbor is not sick; my company benefits if my employees are not sick; children benefit if the vagrant in the park is not sick, or the other kids in school are not sick.
If you'd take a look around you'd see that's a very false statement. Several recent papers show that allergies may be caused by lack of work for your immune system. Trying to make the world a "clean" place is a very dangerous idea, humans and other creatures were created in an environment with various "positives" and "negatives", and when you go about trying to eliminate all the "negatives", unintended shit happens. The human body is a very complex machine, and has evolved to take care of itself very well. Unless they're suturing a wound, removing a tumor, or such proven techniques, doctors are generally about as useful as bloodletters. -
More, but on the physical side...
- Your body is capable of rapid growth and recovery at this age. Once you reach 26 it starts downhill. So get yourself into the best possible physical condition now. Think "I'll be buff when I'm 26 and have to fight off women/men."
- Take a calcium supplement with magnesium. If you drink milk, then take a magnesium supplement. Milk has calcium but little magnesium. W/O the magnesium the calcium isn't as readily processed.
- Don't quit drinking milk; I did for 2 years and became lactose-intolerant (i.e., my American Indian name is "Unsocial_After_Drinking_Milk"). Meanwhile my 82-year old father drinks milk like a newborn calf and is fart-free(well, except for the 20/day that the average male emits).
- Get some cardiovascular exercise every day. Studies show that teenagers in the U.S. often have atherosclerotic deposits (plaque) in their hearts.
- Take a multivitamin supplement. There's absolutely zero chance that you're getting enough folic acid, vitamins B-6, B-12, D, E and C for your age, when you're growing rapidly. Get a solid supplement (like the "B-50" - 50 mg of each B vitamin), not a "One-A-Day" type and take one at least every other day. Take the C, D and E daily separately. Despite what your parents or doctor may say, you cannot get all the vitamins and minerals from food alone unless you're an underweight 40-year old vegetarian.
- Lift weights at least twice a week to strengthen bones and muscle. Start as early as possible. New studies indicate that even children benefit from this, so take your little brother or sister along to the gym. Don't bother with bodybuilding; just lift weights for strength.
