Re:In this economy?
To put that in perspective, in the same time period, there were about 240 million streams of Black Beatles by Rae Sremmurd alone. Pandora had 5.4 billion hours streamed in Q3, 2016, which would be about 470,000 times more than the cassettes sold (assuming 60 minute cassettes). And that's just Pandora, not including all the other streaming services.
Cassettes are a tiny little drop in a thimble used to fill the swimming pool. They are irrelevant. But I get it - hipster! Now get me my mustache wax and we're good to go, as soon as I can pull on my skinny jeans and flannel shirt...

Flickr is still better
Flickr still has a vibrant community. Some people left over the UI range, but where would they really go? 500px? Don't make me laugh.
I still prefer the UI Flickr has over any other site - for serious photography.
Yahoo didn't kill off Flickr - and they are larger than they ever have been.

Re:Another one bites the dust
LinkedIn is a lot more than a contact list!
For starters, it is becoming the best hiring tool on the planet. It's already strong, with 6.5 million job listings, and 94% of recruiters use the site. (source). But it is inherently superior to its competitors because recruiters can compare candidates claimed experiences with their professional social network.
LinkedIn will beat Monster in recruiting for the same reason that Facebook beat MySpace. Even though MySpace, at one point, had more registered users than Facebook, the lack of stricter identity control (i.e. a REAL, non-spammy userbase) led Facebook to win in the long run. -
300 Hrs of Video Posted To YouTube Per Minute
---- and there are four billion video views on YouTube a day. 130 Amazing YouTube Statistics The stakes for both the rights holders and Google are high and there is no getting around that.
The music you posted may be based on public domain sources but the arrangement you used was not. The arrangement you used may have been in the public domain but the performance was not. The point being that the worst that can happen is that your post will be taken down.
You aren't looking at the expense or legal exposure in hosting the video on your own site.
The geek isn't realistic about the amount of personalized service he can expect from a site the size of YouTube.
Yes, it's always going to be easier for the big boys like Disney --- who can deliver page views in the hundreds of millions --- and some of whom have been around since the heyday of the nickelodeon, the player piano and the Edison wax cylinder. Experience counts when you are dealing with something as treacherous as performance rights.

Re: Then why get a console?

Gee, why does Facebook have more Macs then Windows boxes??
* http://blogs.wsj.com/cio/2015/...In most companies, the number of computers running Windows vastly outnumbers those running the Mac operating system. At Facebook, though, that paradigm is flipped. The company has 16,000 Mac laptops and a much smaller number of Windows machines.
Quit trolling and stop being a Microsoft shill. People use Fazebook on Desktop and Mobile --- the OS is irrelevant: Android, iOS, Windows and OSX.
Considering only 47% of Fecesbook users use only mobile, that leaves 53% are using it on the desktop. It is highly improbable 100% of those 53% desktop users are using Winblows.
* http://expandedramblings.com/i...But keep talking out of your ass, and let's ignore the facts that:
1. Everything you can do on a Windows Box you can do on an MacBook Pro (aside from the odd proprietary app/game that is Windows specific.)
2. You *do* know you can run Linux on a MacBook Pro, right?
I do game dev on **all three**: Windows, OSX, and Linux. WRT dev tools Visual Studio and XCode are both slow and bloated. The nice thing about OSX is that I can compile with Clang **and** GCC which makes writing OSX / Linux code significantly easer then MSVC's broken C99 support.
After ~25 years of using Windows I'll say Windows blows compared to OSX. OSX sucks _too_, but I find it to be far more consistent. If I could pick only one OS, I'd take OSX with VMWare to run Windows 7 + Linux to get **all 3.**
Pro-Tip: If you want astroturf at least have more then _zero_ facts to back them up because otherwise all that does is make you look like an idiot compared to people who do _actual_ work across a multitude of platforms.

Microsoft's attitude of the control panel: Constantly fuck with it (almost) every version and re-name / re-arrange everything
Apple's attitude of System Preferences: Gets it right the first time and leave it alone. -
Re:Way too optimistic
10 billions FB messages a day.

Re:Facebook is still overvalued
Are you being sarcastic? Facebook's business plan is to show people ads. Users spend an average on 8.3 hours per month on the site: http://expandedramblings.com/index.php/by-the-numbers-17-amazing-facebook-stats/
Also given the high amount of personal information they have about users the ads are probably more valuable than those shown on television for example. If you think their user base is going to decline, you are welcome to that opinion and you should short the stock, but the way things are going now their business plan seems perfectly sound.
