Nice watch but...A buddy of mine has the original Casio watch. It's resolution makes it worthless. When he snaps pictures of us we're essentially a blob of grey pixels. A color version just means we'll be pink(ish) pixels.
Now the eyemodule cameras for Handspring PDAs are just right. I had the original and now have an eyemodule2 and can't say enough good things about it.
- Takes 640x480 color pictures
- Captures short movies (although in Quicktime)
- Incredibly small and portable
- Comes with a nice custom cut foam aluminium case
- Nice geek factor(!)
Obviously if you want hi-res pictures then a watch or a PDA addon is not what you need. But compare these pictures taken with the Casio watch, and these pictures taken with an eyemodule2. If you're a Handspring owner it's absolutely worth checking out.
But what I really want to know is what's up with that Nokia 7650 phone features on the same page as the new Casio watch?! It's beautiful! - Takes 640x480 color pictures

I was told once, and I now think it a lie, that GSM worked by communicating to low orbit satellites and hence was global. I don't know if that's true, but I'd hope that either sprint pcs, or GSM would be widely available over the entirety of your course.
Don't ask about the camera, I wouldn't really suggest that sony picture book. But the cam for the clie is no longer an option it seems; and things like this never seem to be real. Although the visor eye module may be what you'd want in that case.

Re:Pocket Quicken and othersThese are in no particular order, and many are repeats from earlier in the discussion. I went through much of Palmgear when I first got my Visor Deluxe and thought the enclosed list of companies made some pretty cool products.

Re:Visor
I have a visor also, and I've been craving the eyemodule-- It's a digital camera that goes into the expansion slot of the visor. It can take black/white or color images, and only increases the length of the visor by 15mm. The images are also quite small when stored on the visor, the Deluxe can hold 125-500 images, depending on the resolution and color. It uses the visor screen as a viewfinder, so you can see what you're taking... The quality is not so great, but then it's only about $150 USD.

Re:Geared towards gaming? I don't think so.
I have a few rebukes to this move. This doesn't shake-up or improve the Palm platform at all. Number one, there are almost no apps available for Palm OS that even use color to begin with.
A quick search at Palmgear turns up 558 color apps for the PalmOS. That may be a small fraction of Palmgear's 6600+ software library but it's nothing to sneeze at.
Second, the Dragonball, even at 30MHz, does not have the computing power to take advantage of 65,000 colors.
Then they can use specialized video circuitry to help it out. Maybe that's why it's so expensive.
Also, considering the standard resolution of the Palm, you cannot even display half that many colors (approximately 26,000 pixels - I forget the exact dimentions).
25,600 to be exact. He shoots, he scores! :-)
Being that most apps would use repeated colors for various window widgets and so forth, this increase in color depth would show no improvement in useablility - and since games typically show a limited number of colors on the display at any one time, why bother?
It could make fonts and maps more readable and allow for sharper undithered images for your Eyemodule pictures.
It's a step in the wrong direction. Why not focus on making them smaller (Handsprings are still bigger than my Palm Vx)
Part of the problem with making the Handspring Visor smaller is that the its Springboard slot takes up a lot of space that cannot be used to cram more electronics. Expandability for size, it's a trade-off not everyone can live with but some of can.
and cheaper (it still costs the same as my PalmVx did nearly 4 months ago)
This would be the first Visor to even come close to the V series in price. The earlier Visors sell for just $149-$249.
instead of adding as of yet unneeded features (because if people want something that 'looks' like their PC desktop, they'll probably buy a WinCE device
But if I bought a WinCE device, I'd have to through away my Flash Module and all my PalmOS apps! With a color Visor I get it all. The apps, the functionality, expandability, and color games, pictures, and maps. I'm not saying I'm going to run out and buy a color Visor as soon as it becomes available -- but it sure is tempting! -
batteries/price/worthso i'm the sucker that'll probably buy one of these.
i just dropped $150 on the eyemodule. a fun toy, but as is well documented on usenet, if you ain't drowning in cash you should probably save that money for a digital camera that will be functional in better resolutions than B&W 160x120. (you can forget about the larger images). is the same true of the mp3 module? is the diamond rio a better bang/buck? but like i said, a fun toy. specially for covert public transportation images.
now $2XX for an MP3 player? maybe thats above my stupid threshold. i may be wrong.
never mind the fact that i'm replacing my batteries once a week these days. i'll probably have to change the 3 batteries every 2 days with one of these babies. also, how long to sync the whole mp3 module on a serial port? 2 hours?

Re:Visor - big deal
If anyone actually has a Visor with a module of some kind, let me know.
Well, I have a EyeModule for my visor, and I love it. I've been having way too much fun with it since I got it.
Plug and play works great - stick it in, and the software gets installed.
The resolution is 320x240 - pretty good for web pages.
Picture quality is good while moving in bright (outdoor) light; if you are indoors, you have to hold still.
If it gets too dark, you get the "Christmas Light" effect that old color quick cams used to get.

Re:Damn, I just bought this thing...
30 minutes to run the test on a palm?
The visor version of the test took a fraction of a second.
I kind of figured my visor would pass the test - with all of the fun I've been having with my Eye Module I've been filling up my ram every day.
(If you want to see what pictures I've been taking, I have some up here. Noting spectacular - just playing around.
