    Uh,no. Sorry, The offical Direct Connect is just as spyware-infected as everything else these days what you really need is Filenavigator

    Filenavigator is better.

    1) never had any spyware to begin with
    2) searches the gnutella network
    3) searches its own p2p network
    4) fast/many search results

    If you're seriously comparing KaZaa and BearShare, you have a lot of learning to do.

    Start with "SpyWare Tracking for Dummies" and then move on to "Why a File-Sharing Service with 1000 Times More Content is Better."

    You should try filenavigator. I just tried it, and it has just as many results as kazaa.

    No spyware either (as far as I can tell, with adaware).

    there's still things like Filenavigator

    although napster is dead, many more "clones" will be in its place.

    This confuses me. In early versions of Napster (Beta 5 or so) resuming worked fine. It'd even search for files of the same size to resume from if the person you were downloading from got disconnected! At the very least you could resume manually. Then inexplicably the option disappeared, replaced with "overwrite" or "rename" as the only two options.


    But anyway I just use FileNavigator now. It has resuming that works, lets you search for more than just mp3s on servers that support other types of files, and lets you connect to multiple servers at once (go to napigator.com and add some of the servers there to your FileNavigator setup and you'll get lots of results in searches).

    For Windows, FileNavigator is a full-featured Napster clone that can also share non-mp3 files (movies, music videos, etc.) on servers that support them (i.e. OpenNap servers).

    which services will the RIAA/MPAA target next?? I think clones such as mynapster and Filenavigator will suffer the heat. The RIAA never kept up with technology, and will now suffer the consequences. If anything, the all powerful Gnutella will prevail.
