Examples that I remember (in no particular order)
To all these claims: These are things I heard someplace. I did not research any of these, so don't take these as fact.
It is claimed that the 1929 movie "Woman in the Moon" invented the launch count-down.
Star Trek PADD and today's PDAs. (I believe that the Newton actually has been designed with the show's device in mind.
IIRC, pressurized, needle-free vaccination devices have been designed after watching McCoy doing medical treatment on Trek. After a short web search, one of them appears to be the Gene Gun described here. -
BS...(Upcoming "Star Wars" explores new territory)Ok, so the title of the article goes:
Upcoming "Star Wars" explores new territory
What territory? Because the lead character is not a human actor?
Who framed Roger Rabbit (1988) anyone?Oh, because it's CG?
Toys Story (1995) anyone?Ok, so at best, they are improving their CG techniques. But calling that "exploring new territory" just looks like marketing BS to me...
My 2 cents...
PS: George, if you ever read this, please forget about the CG frills and concentrate on giving us a great movie as you used to!

Re:Technology will not be controlled
I was referring to terrorists. They don't have access to the nuclear capabilities that most other countries do.
And as for nations that are not in the United States Fan Club, just go watch Dr. Strangelove.
Wargames, too.
Face it, man. None of these nations are crazy enough to let loose The Bomb.
Hopefully... -
Re:So that's why ...
Sounds like you have a Poltergeist to me.

Orignial Fantasia & drugs
I find it mildly amusing that Fantasia was originally blasted by the critics, and wasn't even considered a children's movie. Fantasia didn't gain critical acclaim until the 60's, partially because of the widescale use of psychedelic drugs at the time (notice the styling on this poster). Now the Fantasia series is for kids... go figure.
