Re:Or...
The Xenarc screens are supposed to be better than the Lilliput screens FWIW. I've purchased a 7inch version with vid capability as well as VGA for under $400 off of EBAY.
I've been looking into this in order to monitor what's going on with my car's standalone EFI system. Since that EFI system's software allows me to build "dashboards" I can do LOTS of interesting displays. I have been collecting URLs and you can see pics of other's progress and discussion here -> http://forum.aempower.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=9604
Some URLs I've collected in no distinct order or organization:

Hopefully some of those will be of help to others considering this sort of thing, I'd be interested in working with others to research this! My plans are to mock up something with the touchscreen and front-end software working with the WINTV, XM PCR, my MP3 collection, GPS mapping, the RLTC software, and my AEM datalogging software. IF it works well (or even halfway well) THEN I'll buy hardware to put IN the car. No sense spending the money if the interface turns out to suck or be too distracting while driving. I'll likely be able to play DVDs too but honestly that's pretty se -

If you are interested in Earth Pictures
Check out the Blue Marble pictures. A resolution of 1 pixel/per kilometers for the whole of the planet, which makes the full pictures 40000*20000 pixels big =) They are available in different views (cloudless, with or without the sea floor relief, at night...) and are truly amazing.
I'm probably going to get a -1 for promoting my own soft, but if your computer cannot handle a 2 gb file in RAM, check my website. I made a soft (approved by the guy who made the picts) for viewing them without much RAM. Only works on macs and PCs, though I'm thinking of a linux version. -
Re:Winamp plugin for Realplayer support
mplayer already does this. You can even get debian packages, which when the realplayer program is installed will just automagically work to play rm files.

Re:Phsaww, why bother with thisI havn't run across a DVD-ROM drive that can't be flashed yet.
Okay, where can I find a region-free firmware for either of the Plextor PlexCombo drives (combination DVD-ROM and CD-RW drives)? firmware.fr.st says there isn't one yet.

Firmware
The firmware page has firmware for various DVD-ROMs to remove region encoding. Check out inmatrix for more information about firmware patches.

Big Brother
The French Version of Big Brother is called Loft Story and here is a page with the big house and the people playing the French Big Brother.

Re:what amazes me is...
Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost. --Thomas Jefferson
"La liberté de presse ne s'use que lorsque l'on ne s'en sert pas" - Jacques Maréchal, Le Canard Enchaîné( "Freedom of press wears off only when you don't use it" - Jacques Maréchal, the founder of "The Chained Canard", a french satirical weekly that has no advertisements; that paper snoops off plenty of scandals).

Mario Kart bugs
Remember the first time you saw someone perform "The Jump" shortcut at Wario's Stadium?
A well-timed jump over the first wall on the left is dramatic and adds a bit of tactics (should I try the jump and lose a couple seconds if I fail, or should I just race?), but a seven second lap (jump over the left wall, then jump over the wall again, making sure to go around the left pole of the s/f line, repeat, repeat for a 22 second run) is just cheap.
Or being knocked off a ramp by a well-timed red shell?
I remember what part of Wario Stadium you're talking about, but I normally did it with a row of banana peels. With a red shell, it a was good comeback tactic, but with an unstoppable Blue Shell Of Death(TM), it was cheap.
But what about MK64's cheesy Battle Mode music, the invisible banana peels in 150cc multiplayer, or the other couple dozen bugs and design flaws in the Mario Kart games? Perhaps this is why Mario Kart Super Circuit for GBA is going back to the SMK roots. (/me starts a petition to get Kamek the Magikoopa and Pinocchio the non-Disney little wooden boy added to Mario Kart 4 for GCN.)

Getting around copyright extensions
The real, more subtle reason copyright terms are infinite is that bills keep getting passed to lengthen them.
For more information on perpetual copyright, read this writeup on Everything.
Here's how to get around perpetual copyrights and trademarks: Abstract the copyrighted expression away from the uncopyrightable idea by finding antecedents from before 1923 (or are otherwise Free). For example, derive Precious Moments from the Eloi people in chapter 4 of H. G. Wells's The Time Machine , and derive Noddy from Pinocchio renditions. This way you can avoid copyright and trademark infringement by taking a stereotype (uncopyrightable under Capcom v. Data East) and "making it yours" by changing just enough that the original expression is distinctive enough to overpower any copied expression.
This is why I no longer like Winnie-the-Pooh, as it has no Free antecedents.
All your hallucinogen are belong to us.
