Re:Quick list
I couldn't find active links for one or two of them myself, but here's an updated list -- in some cases these aren't the original sites, which have disappeared, so obviously it's worth being extra careful with antivirus software... apologies for the mess of links; the filter doesn't like short lines...
1by1 (play MP3s), AriskKey (recover passwords), AutoRuns (enumerate startup tasks), BurnCDCC (burn ISO images), CD (basic CD player), CDex (rip CDs + convert MP3/WAV), Copier [0X Copy Machine] (scan + print), CWShredder (clean spyware), DComBob (tame DCOM), DirLister (make quick file lists), Discover (force windows onscreen), DupeLocater (find and clean), FileRecovery [PC Inspector] (undelete), Folder2ISO (use with BurnCDCC), FoxitReader (read PDFs), GUIPDFTK (split/join PDFs), HijackThis (find spyware), HJSplit (split/join files), Identify_Boards (identify hardware), KatMouse installer (due to MS drivers), LCISOCreator (make ISO image from CD), Leaktest (test firewall), Microsoft keygen (people lose things), MultiRes (change res + force refresh), Multi Timer (stopwatch), NoteTab Light (text editor), NTest (test monitor setup), OnTop (pin windows to foreground), Process Explorer (task manager), ProduKey (recover passwords), Registry Commander (virus cleanup), ResHacker (examine executables), Rootkit Revealer (just in case) ShootTheMessenger (turn service off), Shred by AnalogX (simple filer shredder), TedNPad (unicode text editor), TFT (dead pixel locator), UNPnP (tame SSDP), UPX (compress executables), UnitConverter (what it says), utorrent (basic torrent app), VCdControlTool (mount ISO images), -
KylixIt is known and Microsoft will not give up with their evil marketing tactics.
This move, however, will not hurt the community as much as the 'kylix'. Borland has dropped support/development of this wonderful product for Linux due to the pressure from Microsoft.
Read This
From TFA:
Needless to say, this step is a heavy blow for all companies and individuals which have invested time and money in Kylix-based projects on Linux. It has been claimed that this was the result of a non-public agreement with Microsoft, where Borland would abandon all products for Linux in exchange for receiving
.NET based technology from Microsoft. This would indeed be a clever move by Microsoft because it (1) binds Borland to Windows and (2) disrupts the possibility of a Visual-Basic-like programming-tool being available on Linux.People like me hate M$ for what they have done to Kylix. Hope google will be able to kick their ass.
Keep going google, we are with you always.

ExpressPCb or PCBExpress
http://www.pcbexpress.com/ or http://www.expresspcb/:
We have both.
Have a look at http://pcb123.com/.
For more stuff look at free CAD tools in the market:

Re:FWIW...The frist question I have is why it needs to be either/or.
With 14 PCs there is the possibility of 10-Win + 4-Lin or some such combination. Better yet, dual-boot them all.The bottom line: it's education. Kids should be given the opportunity to learn as much about the computing world as they can by having exposure to all the technology available.
Maybe only 10-12 need to be set up with permanent installs ... let the kids mess with various distros and other random OSs like BeOS... -

Re:Not really, no
Check these sites out:
http://www.freebyte.com/cad/cad.htm
http://www.pure-mac.com/cad.html
The package I like to use is QCad:
http://www.ribbonsoft.com/
Even though it's source is GPLed, I think there is a fee for commercial use ($28 which is pretty much free)
Give it a try... -
Re:AutoCAD and Illustrator? and where is...
I agree. More powerfull for what? Any CAD program has a mindboggling amount of mathimatical formula programmed into it. Also, if he is worried about LT's price, what would he have said to AutoCAD or any other full blown CAD program at a few grand a licence?
If we are counting CAD programs as something to be used as webpage design, then, ya, you missed a bunch.
Anvil, CADvance, all the ones on this page http://www.freebyte.com/cad/cad.htm, and many more. -
Here's some "joke" code
I first saw this as an email when Windows '95 shipped, and it appears it was rehashed for the Windows '98 lauch too. Thanks to the lameness filter I can't post it directly so here is a link.

What to doThere are a number of decent free and unfree antivirus programs available, as seen in this list
Also nice are programs that let you delete the email at the server before you download, such as mailwasher, and with free versions.
Of course, there are a number of alternate email clients out there that will also help block this beastie

Freeware for All
Well, there's always the heavy overtones of GNU//Llinux being the only freeware in the world.( at least that's how it seems on
/. )
However there are many places on the net that can supply even the lowly Windows user with tools.
Here are a few:

Re:Alright, let me ask this.
Two links from his techtv page:
OS Files
FreeByte
Read the above mentioned techtv page for more details... I seriously doubt all of them are licensed, though... Oh, and the reason why? Maybe I know because I live in a nearby city in the same state. His story made the local news a while back. Check his state of residence - Utah. Can you think of much else to do here? :)
