    After watching Galaxy Quest, I realised how much ST films sucked. I am sorry, but the acting/direction isn't really there. GQ was just a satire on the whole ST idea.

    Sorry I am spoiled, I want to have better action and more fun with this sort of movie and ST lacked in both departments. We all have got a little blase about SFX, they are good for spectacle but don't exactly help the movie develop. Some of the ST story lines were just plane lame, some showed promise, but were not well developed.

    They had done it quite well, with a professionally designed site that aped the worst of old tv-show fan sites. In and of itself, Travis Latke's Galaxy Quest Vaults made for quite an intertaining read. As fun a sendup of fan sites as the movie was of Star Trek.

    The makers of Galaxy Quest put up a fake fan site, which I still think is just part of the fun. But who knows, maybe they were actually trying to fool people.

    Ironically, the official Galaxy Quest website is intended to look like a fansite, down to the inane directory ordering. It's one of the few official movie sites I've found worth visitng.

    I'm really surprised everybody missed out on Travis Latke's Galaxy Quest.

    I'm not slow, but when I went back and found it'd been co-opted by Amazon for awhile, I started thinking "Saaaaay, Travis musta turned pro!"

    Hey, check out the resume on the fan site: http://www.galaxyquest.com/galax yquest/resume.html Especially look at the Linux-related entries on his resume. I thought it was absolutely hilarious; I'm going to have to redo my resume so it doesn't look anything like his. Some of those bad examples hit a little too close to home...

    Don't forget to check out this virtual nerd's resume! Does it look familiar to any of you out there? :-)

    His "activities" include "HTML Coders Association"... but of course! Isn't it a reqirement that you belong to some sort of HTML association before you can put up a crappy fan web site?

    I haven't seen the movie, but I already have a high opinion of... its marketing team. That's right, marketing. Why? Because they created this utterly brilliant fake fanpage for the original series. Now that's funny.
