Re:Success?!?!
I'm so glad you asked that. This has been on my mind for quite some time, for some odd reason. Dvorak wrote about MorphOS (press release here, or you can go straight to the PDF here) quite a while ago, with much enthusiasm: "So far, I like what I see."
At the time this was written, I had no idea what he was talking about. I started watching for news on MorphOS, but of course stuff happened. Way back when I subscribed to PC Magazine, I read his article for information. Now, I follow the Slashdot posts for entertainment.

Re:More progress with AROS?Sounds like the AROS Project is making more progress than Amiga Inc. is. 64 Bit AROS (x86_64) will be released shortly with major OS improvements. AROS is also being ported to PPC http://www.genesippc.com/efika.php/ as well back ported to Amiga86K. Probably the reason why AROS is doing so much better then Amiga Inc has done, ever, AROS is Open Source.

In moderators we trust.
1. This article is an add,
2. An x86 system can be built for 30% the cost,
3. I bought a Alpha before I bought a Apple computer of any kind.
4. Apple is migrating from the Power architecture, joining the mainstream sluggards.
5. Ignore Apple, buy a trendy and efficient PowerPC computer from an honest company
6. If you realy want a PowerPC system, just go buy a Nintendo Gamecube (for less than USD 50) and hack away with a 100% open-source prospectable system toting 450 MHz PPC processor with 40MB RAM and a Radeon 7000 graphics. It boots Linux at the moment, but needs help elsewhere in terms of extending data storage from the compact DVDROM with help of a network interface.
7. If you realy want to wander beyond the Gamecube, get a 128-bit processor system that boots Linux and supported 100%: Sega Dreamcast.
8. I hear there are affordable Sun Sparcs...in dumpsters. Scott Mcnealy made sure the bright people at Sun would never *ever* need to get arm-to-arm with the gothic Apple mimes. -
Yes you can.. maybe not on SPARC though..
We produce an Open Firmware solution which includes an x86 emulator to bootstrap x86 hardware, specifically graphics cards and the like.
PowerPC boards, PC graphics chips with x86 BIOS, no driver edits required on the OS side.. it is there like it would be on a PC.
