Re:Qt toolkit (Or Similar)
QT provides a ton of functionality for networking, XML, collections, database programming.
Or you could use GTK's free equivalents -- gnet, libxml, glib's collections, and gnomedb.
Or you could pay a tax to TrollTech, a company that wants to make money by controlling the GUI on Linux and taxing anyone that writes a non-OSS application. It is, of course, a free choice, but it seems pretty straightforward to me. -

Re:Google says 1%
Linux is making a pretty big dent regardless of those tools. Nevertheless, since you obviously don't know what you're talking about and dont'care to research, I'll do it for you.
VB:
KBasic
Mono
Access:
knoda
GNOME-DB
(For non-free, I beleive that StarOffice may have something and there's also InterBase.)
The table of equivalents / replacements / analogs of Windows software in Linux. -
Alternatives
Gnome-DB is another such application, but it is not as advanced: Gnome-DB
And then there is Aqua Data Studio too, which is also multiplatform and free. -
Re:Missing features still...
Yes you can.
You need to use GDA, part of the Gnome-DB effort. -
Re:How is the database support?
Look at gnome-db.org they have information about Mergeant a Access like front end for database handling. With the integration from Ximian you won't know that it is not apart of openoffice.org, also you can then connect the database to oo.o

gnome-db's libgdagnome-db's libgda component "aims to provide a free unified data access architecture" and "is useful for any application that accesses persistent data (not only databases, but data)". I used it when it was in its infancy and it showed a lot of promise but wasn't quite there. At that point, they were working on query translators so that you'd write your SQL query in XML and a translator would spit out the appropriate SQL for your database of choice. I have no idea where that idea went.
It's worth noting that libgda can be used by non-GNOME applications.
It's also worth mentioning that libdga has a C API. I have no idea if someone has written a C++ wrapper for it.
Oh, and finally, I noticed that libgda had a release on July 8, 2002, moving toward a 0.9 beta, so it looks like it's still actively developed.

MAPS, a bad? example
Recently, these facts demonstrated us massive blacklists may be innacurate or under abuse. During a few weeks, a lot of Spanish free software projects, such as GNOME-DB, were blacklisted in MAPS because "they are dial-ups connections". Altough we told to MAPS administrators that we have fixed IPs in DSL connections, it was neccesary a message from Telefonica, the main spanish telephony and Internet provider.
I had an interesting discussion with Sourceforge administrators about the accuracy of MAPS lists (SF is using MAPS lists so we had blocked all emails with SF users during a few weeks).
Now, I recommend not supporting MAPS lists. I think they are abusing on them.
Actually, I sign all outgoing messages with this:
Note.- This message may or may not arrive to you. This is because a lot of non-spammer's Static IP addresses are being listed in MAPS antispam blacklists. So, please, do not use MAPS blacklists or a lot of mail for you would be lost.
