    Are you sure Open Source is fledging in India. I don't think so. Consider
    a) How many Open source projects have you see intitiated byIndians?
    b) How man Open Source Contributers do you know from India?

    Check out openbsd.org, and the geographical map they show of their devleopers, India does not figure.
    c) Even after so many years there is no true Linux Distribution from India, neither have we got any production Linux distribution in regional languages. If you know one then that is only some guys final year project now lying in dust.
    d) How much contribution has been made by Indians to Open Source here. GNU India

    what free software projects are "indian" that those of us in the english speaking world might not be aware of?
    The Free Software Foundation has an Indian affiliate. You can find a list of Indian contributions to free software at the FSF India website.

    NevyOS is a full desktop distro built off of the QT/emb toolkit - preview release 1 was 8 MB total. It runs all out of the kernel framebuffer so it is wicked fast on even the slowest hardware. There were mailing list posts .saying they were going GPL in preview release 2, due in a matter of weeks. The site. has just went down for construction, so expect the big announcement soon. AE
