Comparing the incomparable
Cuba's got some oppression sure
"Some" oppression? What a wonderful understatement... You have to register with police — and get their permission — just to travel from one town to another...
but it's not like the US is torture-free either.
Yeah, this was the first thing, that struck me upon moving to America 20 years ago. Your ready willingness to equate the petty misdeeds of your country's government with the gross human rights violations of others. To you and yours, McCarthy — who caused a hundred or so people (most of them actual Communists) to lose their jobs — is equivalent to Beria, who killed millions.
What little torture we did use, was applied to enemies — and most of us are duly ashamed of it anyway. The worst, that political opposition has to fear in the US, is an IRS audit. Do you understand, what's going to happen to a Cuban questioning Fidel's competence?

Re:Science creates understanding of a real world.
You call it a Strawman, but your first point sets up a system which will inherently reduce resources...power, food, etc. And who enforces the limit? Could it be?...No Way, An authoritarian government?
Just read Slashdot and the various environmental publicans that rail against the suburbs and want to limit Free Speech or put people who disagree in jail .
As for it "being the law", that's like saying since the speed limit is 65 MPH, no is allowed to sell Porches. You interpret various fundamental physical laws into a much larger assertion using questionable calculations. Since the temps have stayed the same and maybe even have gone down some all while the carbon has kept increasing, your assertion is on shaky empirical ground.

Re:Stop it.
Ah but it is a police state, just not one in which you're likely to be dragged from your bed in the middle of the night.
How about the summary IRS audits http://www.frontpagemag.com/2013/dgreenfield/cancer-patient-who-spoke-out-against-obamacare-now-being-audited/

You can of course argue that the audits were scheduled anyways, but you will probably dismiss it. http://godfatherpolitics.com/13418/obama-orders-irs-shutdown-non-profits-speak/ -

Re:Something needs to be done about these Governme
Why bother with Pakistan? You have people in the US that want to ban free speech or remove the right to protect yourself while their kids are well protected.
Sounds to me like they just run a more progressive liberal government than the US currently does. I'm sure their leadership has full access to You Tube but its not right for their people to have the same freedom. Just like in the US, the leaders have freedom of speech and armed guards, but you the lowely citizen have no need for such things and they are trying to correct it. Pakistan just doesn't have that pesky Constitution to deal with so they can do it easier.
