Re:Not really a big deal.
Not sure why people are obsessed with the weird personal site, as that's not apparently his normal work site? He seems mostly obsessed with pimping out some security folks Tel Aviv and legal babble. Somehow missing from all of this is his sudden career shift http://www.gtlaw.com/People/Ru... This might give a better picture of where the guy is at: http://www.gtlaw.com/Experienc...

Re:I hate Apple, but no
Seriously? You can't use google? Or wikipedia?
here's a pdf from the first footnote on the wikipedia article. It's an article written in 2007. http://www.gtlaw.com/portalres...
Apple came up with this method in the 1980s. It's been well known for a lot longer than any silly NYT article. http://www.reuters.com/article...
Wow, you really suck at proving your point. Thanks for providing no evidence whatsoever for your claim. Hint: your article about the Double Irish doesn't mention Apple, and the article about Apple taxes in Ireland doesn't mention the Double Irish.
Or is the problem that you don't even know what your point is?

Re:IANAL, question for real lawcritter
Roxanne Elings signed that letter, her profile can be viewed here:
http://www.gtlaw.com/People/GRoxanneElingsThe funny part is that she appears to have studied the law, unfortunately she is using http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undue_influence to try to coerce journalists into giving up good stories like this, a blatant use of corporate lawyers bashing on free speech.

Journalists denied because they had no visa
This story has be passed around and it has fueled the "The US Gov is evvviiiiiiil" fires for a while. The problem is that it is very misleading.
These journalists got in trouble because they didn't have the correct visa. In the past the rule that required foreign journalists to fill out some extra paperwork was not enforced but in these times of shoe inspection seems like they would have looked into the immigration rules a little closer. -
Re:Best Article Ever
Unfortunately, Digitial Phonorecord Deliveries carry no right of resale. I don't think this makes sense, but it's the law. If you buy a download, you can't then sell it to me, even if you delete the original. There is no first sale right for DPDs.

Re:PATRIOT
It was amended to the Patriot act like many other things before it was finalized, because no one would actually oppose the patriot act, and it everyone knew it would be approved quickly. The actual regulations concerning gambling fall under the "Bank Secrecy Act" part of the bill. More details can be found here.
