Re:Brazilian Ethanol [Re:Don't blame me]
I have a '66 Ford Country Squire station wagon that falls into your multi-decade realm. This car has run reliably on MN's required ethanol content of 10%, BUT it required replacing fuel system components that were built with natural rubber, such as the fuel pump diaphragm and short sections of the fuel line. These parts were easily replaced with modern substitutes containing synthetic nitrile rubbers such as Buna-N. However, older vehicles did not depend on many of the rubber and plastic parts found in today's cars; older vehicles used a lot of steel, brass, and aluminum in their fuel systems, which mainly consisted of a fuel pump and carburetor. Today's vehicles usually incorporate 1 plastic fuel injector per cylinder, not to mention that the plastics and rubber components are cheaper to manufacture, which was the ultimate reason for their use.

Re:About overclockers:
The're the same kind of people who outfit their base-line stock 4-banger Honda Civics with nitrous and twin turbos and then wonder why their engine blows and their clutches slip when the checkered flag drops.
This does fit for many overclockers, but not the majority. I for one overclock my devices, but I do so intelligently. You don't just jump up to 2v on your ram and hope it holds. Overclocking is a long, slow process. You take the smallest steps possible to find the limits of the hardware then stop a notch or two below that. Then you also have to make sure you have adequate cooling and stable power. I have been doing this for years, and have not had anything fail on me yet.

High Performance mods?
Looking back at my sometimes mis-spent youth I'm wondering how long it will take for someone to start selling performance enhancements for these new fangled electric cars.
What's the Prius equivalent to a Holley Double Pumper or headers and glass pack mufflers? -
Nitro?? How about Nitrous? If you've never experienced the scent of nitro
I suspect Les Gasser really meant Nitrous, as in Nitrous Oxide.
Here I found the following:
The use of nitrous oxide (N20) as a performance enhancement has been traced back to World War II, where it was employed to give Allied aircraft "emergency" boosts in both airspeed and altitude capabilities.

Re:Great
And all 1966 Corvettes were designed with the intent that you would be using high-octane fuel and NOS in them years later, right?
Technology is moving much faster than the auto industry. If we tested everything in computers as well as cars (imagine piles of twisted, bent cases at the crash test sites...) they would run in more extreme temperatures, be half as likely to crash, all use the same software no matter the vendor, and we would be at all of 66 MHz right now.
