    everytime my girlfriend unplugs it to hoover (vacuum for those in the USA).

    Has Maytag really lost the trademark on Hoover® outside the United States? Or is it in the same limbo where Kleenex® and Xerox® seem to fit?

    They just didn't want MIPS to become another Hoover. People call vacuum cleaners hoovers and now hoover have lost their trade mark.

    So what was that you were saying about "hoover have lost their trade mark"? Your general point is correct, though - in the US legal system, you must aggressively defend your trademarks.

    So, I have to say, I was surprised to see a story on Slashdot with so many damn hyperlinks in it. Not to mention that some of them were rather trollish.

    But what really sucks is that Slashcode's inane . link exposer for people who are too stupid to look at the bottom of their browser's window to see the URL that they're clicking on has basically ruined this joke.
