Re:I'll second...
Well, the US has some (and has had) solutions to your Sipping tea in an Air Conditioned room problem:
- Put on the hood. Aim for the white O. Bang, Bang, Bang, Poof, Bang. Sandbags mop up the blood. Unconscious minutes after.
- A quick shave. Some gel. Zap 'em for four minutes 'till he's dead. Hey... Did you forget to fix the restraints? His body went across the room that time.
- A last look at society. Now, strap him in so he doesn't look like he's in pain. Pop a vein, drop in the IV. Pop another, do the same. Pump him full of Anesthetic. Now kill his muscles. Finish off his heart.
- Throw him in the box. Add some sulfuric acid. Listen to the heart. Add sodium cyanide. Wait 18 minutes. You now have one prisoner gassed to death slower than even the most powerful dictators in the world could ever dream of. The masked men add some little bleach to wash off those deadly gas stains.
- Weigh him. Calculate the rope length. Open the door. Wait 45 minutes. Pop, Pop, plop.
Oh, so sorry, did I scare you? Some desensitization might help. May I suggest you take a seat in the room with a view and watch the show? I hear today's is going to be good: Another big guy, should take enough to kill a horse to get rid of him. -

DigiScents has been working on this very thing for years now; I've talked to people who've tested it, and they claim it's damn spooky just how well it works.

Re:External clock source
Another concept is multiple lower frequency clocks synchronized to a shifted-phase pulse. Think of the electrical system. http://www.howstuffworks.com/power.htm Using lower phase clocks synchronized or varied phase pulses to create a unifying beat pulse tempo would allow unique timing signals whereas a two-phase to three-phase to ten-phase shifted pulse would allow the current clock-speed to magnify simply. The simple downside would be the chip heat and the impending nuclear core cooling issues we call the microchip.

Re:lok-titePublishing how to pick a lock isn't going to keep the door locked long.
I beg to differ. There are countless articles written on how to pick locks. Here is one that is written on the level of the layman:
How Stuff Works: Lock Picking.
There are methods for doing many untasteful things(i.e. building bombs, cooking methamphetamine, etc) freely available, but this does not mean that everyone is blowing up buildings. I don't think it causes harm to simply have the information available. Security by obscurity is no securtity at all.

Re:How Stuff Works
In the US you rarely if ever get 3-phase to your house, you don't even get 2-phase. As the article states on http://www.howstuffworks.com/power5.htm , what you get is one phase of center-tapped 240V. Hot to ground is 120V, Hot to Hot is 240V

Re:They skipped an entire generation.
The article went straight from squirt pistols to second generation Super Soakers, without ever mentioning the originals. The original Super Soakers weren't of the 2 reservior variety, but were a single reservior into which you pumped more and more air, not water, to build pressure. Doesn't say much for their research.
If you had bothered to read page 3 you would have seen them mention the original Super Soakers.
Doesn't say much for their research.
I wonder what that says about your research.

Another cool link from howstuffworksThis is a super cool thing to build. And they can be very powerfull. I built a couple of them out of film canisters, straws, and hot glue. One blew the shit out of its self, it was cool! I supose you could modify them into water canons (I haven't tried this yet). The link was attached to How does the lighter in a BBQ grill work?.

Ah, nostalgia....
I used to play with these things a lot back at university - a local club used to stalk around playing silly-buggers with them to relieve some of the monotony and stress of student life.
The main problem I had with most waterpistols I could find was leakage - almost any pistol with any significant capacity had severe leaking problems. Then again, that could just be the quality of the stuff available locally, I suppose. Still, good to see some of the theory behind them, and why the bits that kept breaking did so (or at least how their breaking made stuff not work).
Now, after looking at that article, I really want the one with the bipod
