the real problem is...
I think the real problem is that not very many people are informed about what the MPAA is doing and what we can do about it....That is why I got the anti dvdcca shirt and the got decss shirt from copyleft. I get extremely strange looks in the halls, and when people question me about the shirt, I am able to tell them about the oppression from the MPAA and about decss and why source code is free speech and such things..I think if anything is going to be done, we need to get the word out.
want to see the shirt in action? go here

Re:When monopolies fight...
or they will kill each other.....(that is what I am praying for) and a new company will rise up to take their place. Specifically iceball.net (that is my dream at least...)

Re:What now they're going to double charge me?It doesn't matter which ISP you use, they still have to get bandwidth from the phone company. I live in area that is serviced by Qwest. We use a different provider for long distance, WAN, Internet, etc. We still have to order our T1's from Qwest because everything has to go out through the local CO before we can connect to anything else. All the ISP's in town have to go through Qwest's network and pay Qwest for the bandwidth they use. They get $1200-$1500 a month for every T1 they setup loops for. They see plenty of dimes.
Try this out. Run traceroute and find out whose equipment you are really running through. You might be surprised at the results. Lookup who owns the IP's if you only get an IP on a hop. You are sadly misguided if you believe that they will let you use their equipment for free. You are billed even if it is indirectly through you ISP. You are paying the bill even if you aren't using their services directly.

I was wondering...
Where in the world could I get a poster of these solar coronal trace thingy's? That would be, by far, the best thing to have hanging on a wall or cubicle. THose things are the coolest and most beautiful pictures I have seen in a long time. I have seen sunspots through a telescope at Camp Susque in Trout Run PA We saw them using a 16 inch reflecting celestron telescope with all these neato computer controls and stuff. The camp even has their own observatory with a rotating dome. All the sunspots and stuff were really neat, but nothing compared to seeing these pictures and stuff! Thanks for posting this stuff!

mp3 usage
I think that a lot of radio jockeys could use mp3s a lot easier than cd's...that is one thing that a lot of radio stations in my area haven't used at all...It would be thousands of times easier to have all of your songs right on one computer without having to worry about your cd changer and track numbers...need a song? just hit find and find it right away...you could schedule your playlist weeks ahead of time and have your morning show ready before anyone wakes up...the mp3 and winamp broadcasters seem to be more internet based.
I, personally use shoutcast and winamp and live365 to broadcast our own radio show at iceball.net/awm and we have seen how much easier it is to use winamp and mp3s and all of that...before, we were using tapes and a big tape player, and a cd player and it was quite the pain to get everything in order for one broadcast...now it is simple..If everyone switches over, it will make it a million times easier...especially if the radio stations stream over the net as well.
just my 2 senses..
