Re:Works for a limited audience
Hey ASSHOLE! Why don't you drive one of these or a Peterbilt so you kill the entire family next time? Everyone would have probably survived if you would have just been in a big car. Have fun when your lack of maneuverability in your big ass truck causes you to hit something stationary or one of the few vehicles that are bigger than your mobile penis extension. It won't absorb and dissipate the energy so your internal organs will slam against your skeleton. But don't worry. Your little angels' heads will whip around like a tetherball and their guts will turn to jelly just like yours. All the really bad drivers have the same idea and someday they will careen into you. Enjoy the rollover jackass.
These vehicles are for people who need them for work: transporting 3+ men and lots of equipment or trailers to a job site. Not for a scaredy cat suburbanite's commuter vehicle. But since most people don't buy them for real work, they should be included in a firms CAFE averages, be subject to "I have more money than brains" tax at the time of sale, and the drivers be required to pass a yearly driver's exam to prove they know how to drive it (that will eliminate most of them). Until then, I will laugh whenever I see a SUV or a commuter in a big ass truck filling up with fuel. The House of Saud thanks you

Re:"do no evil" from a company that patents algori
It's good for everyone if money is spent rather than sat upon.
That all depends on the state of the economy. It's not good for everyone if you're in demand driven inflation. Then you want everyone to save and not spend.
But given the fact that Americans really enjoy their right to consume I doubt you could steer many towards not consuming. -
Almost as good as a Freightliner...
I want one of these. Wait till they bring it out in an SUV! I'll show the world!!

Re:AwesomeYou can't be an American ; if you were you would have known that Hummers are small, practical, economical runabouts. This is the new standard to beat
:This will intimidate even a hummer ( which will fit on the back of it ( 7 miles/gallon BTW))

Re:a simple one
like this: http://www.smartruck3.com/ (click on the international link on the bottom) Or Internationals more heavy duty CXT http://www.internationaldelivers.com/site_layout/
s evere/cxt.asp. If your like me then a CXT is a dream truck as its perfect for normal driving, can offroad (Which I do on occasion) and pull really heavy trailers. Just give me a jake E-brake, and a pintle hitch with live air then I am all set! But for someone who wants a diesel with truck style and some good pulling power the CUV looks promising. -
We will need it
Whatever you save in fossil fuel usage will be sucked up by people commuting in this.

Output device with over 500 ft/lbs of torqueI'm still making a living (for a little while longer anyway) programming an Intel 8065 (A custom 16 bit microprocessor designed for Ford) in assembly language.
It's not much different than the computers you're all calling obsolete, aside from the fact that I don't have to worry about a display or keyboard (or even storage devices). My I/O are the sensors and actuators of the Navistar-International 7.3L Turbo Diesel "Powerstroke" engine. The current production version will attain 275 HP and 520 ft/lbs of torque in a Ford F350 with a manual transmission.
How's that for an output device?
So... is anyone else still making a living programming these "obsolete" computers?
