Re:Whats the difference?
1. There is no year 0. The year before year 1 was 1 BC.
Not according to Microsoft OOXML, and that's ISO approved so you know that means quality ;) -
Re:some standards are more equal than others
OOXML isn't open due to the poor quality of the specification. Where the specification is vague or completely undefined it means that defacto standards will step in and that's how Microsoft Office maintains its monopoly. Here's my list of example remaining problems in OOXML that will result in the ISO promoting a defacto commercial application, Microsoft Office.

Re:pyhrric
I agree. We're back to where we were a year ago only now with a lot more awareness of the office monopoly and how much money is wasted.
Here are two reports on OOXML that I recently released, one (PDF, 0.9MB) and two (PDF, 0.8MB). -

Re:OpenMalaysia blog
Nice, and the pictorial view they link to gives you a nice "yay" or "nay" running result.

Re:I wouldn't be too smug
Yes, the BRM in Geneva will be interesting.
Unfortunately I think they'll win too unless IBM/Sun start playing dirty too. The reason I think they'll win is that OOXML (DIS29500) only needs a few countries to change their votes.
