Re:blasts an
Not to mention we tortured people that anybody with a fucking brain would know wouldn't be told jack shit. We tortured the cab driver the Taliban grabbed and used to ferry around some of their high level guys...he was a fucking CAB DRIVER, do they think that the world works like a James Bond film? that the villain is just gonna monologue their plans to some dumb shit that doesn't have squat to do with anything? Of course not he was told "STFU and drive until I say stop" and that was it. It would be like torturing Romney's garbageman to find out what his campaign plans are, how the hell is he supposed to know this? You think he goes out for a beer with Romney or something?
And THIS is why i'm so saddened and disgusted by the people in this country not saying shit about Assange and letting our leaders keep him locked in a room in that embassy because you read the shit that was posted on Wikileaks and its pretty damned obvious that several high level members of our government frankly should be brought up to the Hague for war crimes. Its disgusting the shit that our government and those hired by our government have been doing in these countries, shit just as evil as during the worst days of the Vietnam war (which you noticed the press didn't make shit about the government FINALLY coming clean and admitting The Gulf Of Tonkin was a false flag) only now the evil bastards at the top learned from their mistakes in Vietnam and simply bought up all the MSM. So now instead of anybody saying shit about this stream of information proving multiple war crimes we get "Assange is a dirty pervo rapist who need to be sent to Gitmo". you know what? I don't give a rat's ass if Assange spends his weekends pushing little old ladies down the stairs as HE ain't killing thousands of people and starting shit all over the planet!
I urge everyone to watch the end of America by Naomi Wolf. She isn't some whacko here, she is a quiet little conservative Jewish girl (I personally think she is a little TOO conservative when it comes to the conclusions) who is now on the watchlist for daring to speak about our rights under the constitution. That's right folks, simply giving a lecture about what the declaration of independence and constitution says is enough to have you put on the list. In this video she shows several examples in history of free societies that became non free overnight, and she gives a step by step account of how it happens. She calls it the "universal playbook" that has been used by everyone from Stalin to Franco and watch how many of those plays are already either in motion here or have already been used. And one of the final steps she lists is a society creating a framework to where people can be tortured outside the rule of law. Why is this one of the last steps? Because it always starts small and gets bigger. Hitler started with only communists, Stalin started with the kulaks, in EVERY case she shows how these extra judicial systems grow like a cancer to cover more and more "undesirable elements".
so we need to seriously wake the fuck up, stop letting the MSM divert us with bullshit like Assange and start demanding that they go after the big issues like the tortures, bombings, and all the other nasty evil shit that has been and is being done in our name and with our money.

Re:Why bother?
They got drones and missiles that can hit you from halfway across the planet...you've got a shotgun. Yeah...good luck pal.
You know what? they wouldn't even have to waste a single missile, know why? You're a kiddie fiddler. Don't say you're not, because when they arrest you they'll grab your computer and a handful of files that were dropped..eerrrr..."found" on your PC say you are.
And that's it, you've lost your job, you need $100K+ to defend yourself, your own family turns on you, and you're all alone. Don't think it can happen? Look up the guy in FLA that spent 3 years of his life in jail because he got a corporate issued laptop with a backdoor on it that some CP guys used. It cost him everything I just listed, now you think the corporate fascist state is gonna be NICER to you?
Wake up friend, your ass can be disappeared just as easily as anybody else, they can crucify you at any moment and have the MSM happily cheering. When the big collapse comes? Sure then you can back your truck up and have it turned into a technical and join the party. Until then you STFU and keep your head down or your ass will be dropped in a hole. Know how many people are being held in CIA hell holes? Me neither, and neither does the Red Cross, Amnesty International, or anybody that doesn't have top security clearance.
Maybe you ought to take a good look at this map and think about who you are saying you have the balls to fuck with. You are the mouse, THEY are the 800 pound gorilla that can stomp you without even wasting energy. Hell Assange is known around the planet and they've pulled a Noriega on him, I'm shocked they ain't blasting "renegade" just to be extra douchebaggy about it.

Re:Internet, not necessarily Wikileaks
Ya know, I'm shocked they didn't pull the pedo card myself. Easy enough to do, a few files on one of his old PCs and its even easier to get the sheep to jump on the bandwagon.
Look, whether you like it or not war and being vicious shit stirrers for the megacorps have become pretty much the SOP for the USA since the end of WWII. Don't take MY word for it, enjoy this handy map showing all the countries to CIA or US military have targeted since WWII. Notice how there very VERY few countries that we haven't gone into and stirred up the shit? Coups against legitimate governments, starting wars, its a huge business worth tens of billions in contracts for the corps, everything from bullets to getting their bananas cheaper, its just business folks.
I just wonder how long Assange is gonna be allowed to have a pulse myself. Sure they want him alive to make an example of him, but how long will this little circus go on before they decide it'd be better just to bury him? They could probably poison him but I'd bet on the "angry lone nut" as its worked so well in the past. You could even have a nice "suicide note" with the patsy...err shooter, that blames Assange for the deaths of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, case closed. Nice and neat.
BTW people of the world? Hi, USA citizen here, don't get pissy with us, we can't do a damned thing about the CIA and the war machine anymore than you can. Every 4 years they trot out another puppet that has fuck all to do with the actual power structure to make the masses feel like they have a say, meanwhile the CIA gets paid and the heads stay for life, same with the MIC. Not a damned thing we can do about it, but with their throwing over 430% of our GDP into the market for their bankster buddies a collapse is inevitable, sorry about the death toll until the whole thing falls down, sorry.

That's right... CIA did something bad, once.

Re:This, despite precedents protecting new reporti
Simple what happened friend, the CIA. Ever since the war ended back in 45 the CIA just kept finding new places to stir up shit and often would get in bed with the corps while doing it, such as the coup in Iran in 56 that replaced a democratically elected president for the Shah who promised to kiss BP's ass if they made him ruler. Ever since then its been one corrupt deal after another, one nasty play after another, and with each passing year they just got more vicious and ugly. Look at this map friend and ask yourself why? Why would they want to stir up that much hatred for the USA and slaughter that many?
Because conflict is big business, they've known that since WWII and that is why we lose more of our liberties every year, they find more bogeyman to declare war on, more reasons to siphon money to their friends in the MIC, and with each bombing or coup they stir hatred for the USA which means more potential targets and more money.
Sadly thanks to the spooks and the MIC this country has become a death machine, producing war and suffering everywhere so some rich old soulless bastards can squeeze a little more profit and build a little larger empire.

Re:Oh, the delicious irony!
The fact that he has that link on his Slashdot homepage is, in fact, a complete excuse from the accusation of being a shill. What the Microsoft publicity people seem to do which is wrong and illegal (in most sensible jurisdictions) is pretend to be normal members of the public when in fact they are being paid.
What this guy should clearly be attacked for instead is
- attacking Ecuador's human rights record without mentioning that he works for an organisation which destroyed Equador's democracy in the 1960s and continues to do so.
- completely failing to mention that Sweden could easily just guarantee not to extradite Assange to the USA, thereby making the whole issue irrelevant
- and so on...
The involiability of embassies is something which the USA and the UK have much more reason to care about than most countries. The idea that people should be post-justifying the hostage taking at the US embassy in Iran by making embassies subject to the vagaries of random decisions of local law is outrageous.

Re:A lot later than that.
If someone attacks you, like in WWII, you go kick ass and then come home. Don't go around the world picking fights because sooner or later you're gonna meet something that's bigger than you. Friends come and go, but enemies tend to accumulate. So don't accumulate enemies.
Well said. Here is an interesting and disheartening partial diagram of USA's worldwide mischief: http://killinghope.org/images/interventions_map.png

Re:Heil
Dude do NOT even get me started on the ME and all the bullshit! this is why my grandfather retired rather than going to nam, with WWII we were fighting a guy who was trying to take over the planet, with Korea he said the Koreans asked for our help, but he said Vietnam was nothing but a puppet that the CIA was jerking around and we didn't have a damned reason to be there.
Sadly I too have looked at history and this map says it all. The CIA have run amok since the end of WWII and "US interests" have become a codeword for some corp that wants cheaper bananas or to raid a country for some resource. of course that doesn't change the fact that just like with the USSR that Islam is a threat, as we have seen in EU and the UK with all the riots Islamists just don't play nice with others, but that doesn't change the fact that we shouldn't even be there in the first place. And don't even get me started on AIPAC which bribes the living shit out of congressmen and throw so much money into our campaigns that BOTH the Dem and the Rep candidate for president goes to kiss the ring before running.
Sadly to me this is proof that capitalism like all other isms are simply doomed to die, because just like communism promoted party loyalty over competences and promoted apathy and stagnation so too does capitalism promote an elite class of multinationals that attain God like powers and can literally start wars or have laws written by simple bribes and edicts. as much as I miss him I doubt seriously my grandfather would find much to be proud of what has happened to his country he fought so hard for. Maybe this is why no society lasts, the corruption gets so bad people would rather let it fall apart than try to fix it, who knows. But you can't blame any of those countries in red for not liking us none too much.

Re:what better...
The US isn't as friendly as you seem to think.
http://killinghope.org/images/interventions_map.png
And that's only addressing military meddling.

It didn't work for Kennedy...
these folks, random U.S. citizens, etc. why would they give pause for this guy?

Re:That's about right if your name is Fidel Castro
"Unlike Capitalism however, communism only tends to survive when supports by an authoritarian regime"
Which explains why US capitalist interests have inspired the US government to overthrow so many democratically elected (but "leftist") governments, only to replace them with US-friendly dictators?
