Re:If it was not for the separation...
There is a pirate religion http://kopimistsamfundet.se/en...
I've thought of that, but the Pastafarians preach that you should dress like a pirate, which is more fun.

Swedish Court Orders Google To Remove Content
"A Court in Stockholm, Sweden has ordered Google to remove content that 'is said to mock religious truths worshipped in Sweden,' according to an IDG News Service report. Jan Civilperson, a private citizen, 'had filed a civil suit against Google and other Internet companies including Facebook, objecting to certain content on their websites.' While Google agreed to remove the content, citing a 'long-standing policy of responding to court orders,' other Internet companies named in the suit are likely to appeal."
Yessss!!! Long live the official religion of Kopimism! Finally we can get rid of that blasphemous crap put online by the RIAA/MPAA and other Copyright Devils!

Copying of information is ethically right.
Dissemination of information is ethically right.
Copymixing is a sacred kind of copying, moreso than the perfect, digital copying, because it expands and enhances the existing wealth of information
Copying or remixing information communicated by another person is seen as an act of respect and a strong expression of acceptance and Kopimistic faith.
The Internet is holy.

Re:Freedom
It will affect casual piracy as people are thrown in jail to make an example. Hardcore pirates will use workarounds such as VPNs. The average Joe won't and will see people being thrown in jail and stop.
That's all they want.
Hardcore pirates have turned file sharing into a religion: http://kopimistsamfundet.se/ So now they can do what religios people do - demand respect for their religion, get tax breaks . . .

Re:Why should one's religion allow one to break la
This happens all the time laws will have exceptions (like slaugher cannot cause unnecessary suffering, except...) and also other rules. Sometimes a classroom can be half-filled with students with something on their head, but little Johnny is warned to take off his baseball cap. The trick to this is that "freedom of religion" trumps most other laws. Kopimism sounds like very interesting as a religion... once there are enough followers, the government has no choice but to recognize it.
