16KHz is nothing.
For those of you who are not IRC junkies, the IRC client KVirc has built-in support for 44.1 KHz "voice chat" (not sure if it qualifies for "VoIP", but is a simple direct connection between two computers supporting real-time audio transfer). Not only does it support 44.1 KHz, but it has for at least a year (when I started using it). What's the big deal with 16KHz?

Re:Confused: QT on WIndows costs?
Excellent point. I know http://www.kvirc.net/ has their source freely available, but the is no mention if it's GPL or whatever. I get QT free for linux and Mac (GPL) but Windoze has a 1500 dollar price tag on it? This makes me wonder if I should work more with GTK. I can now see why GNOME and KDE are going different directions.

Re:Pirch98...
kVirc is much better than x-chat, mIrc, or Pirch. http://www.kvirc.net/ - and there are Linux AND Windows versions available, complete with source-code, and it's free.

Re:Good IRC clients for Unix/Linux?For the last year I've run mIRC (for Windows) under Crossover Office, currently 2.0 - runs like charm.
If you want a native Linux app resemblant of Mirc, grab Kvirc
.
Needs the Qt toolkit, but not KDE. (Allthough you CAN build with a KDE dependency as well, it isn't the default, or wasn't when i last built it at least). Fun to script with :) -
Re:I have to ask..
If your not scared of Beta software, there's an IRC client that supports encryption for queries and even channel messages. You do have to share your key with whom ever you want to be able to read your messages however.
It's KVirc 3 over at www.kvirc.net.
It's primarily writen for KDE/Linux but they also have a pre-compiled Win32 stand-alone. -
Re:lets compare apps...
Problem with Konq, so many websites that dont render properly (many
.com sites) Mozzy is more temperamental to 'em. granted the mplayer gui isnt default, the gui code is still based upon GTK+.
have you looked at the screenshots of kvirc? its more bloated than mIRC. Xchat is pretty thin, thats not just opinion its fact, Im guessing you're trying to stir me up ;)
just looking at some screenshots of Juk, the thing that disappoints...i just want to play mp3s/ogg, sure Juk might do more etc..but the interface, its HUGE. In comparison to xmms, its 274x115 in size. Looks like an overkill personally. main reason why most people prefer a sperate tag editor easytag and a seperate player xmms Specialised programs, for Specialised Jobs.
