(sorry for reposting but this one has links)
I have a knew idea that was inspired by a
/. article. Could someone please make an add on for your e-mail client to open an e-mail 1000 times in the same window in the background? To every single e-mail you select. Not fetch it off the server 1000 times but just keep opening every e-mail in its own window, in the background then close when done. "Why" is because I have noticed that: Most spam that I am receiving is HTML with lots of images and the images are loading from someone's server every time I look at one. 10 people using such a feature would be 10,000 "IMG" downloads per/IMG Obviously if more then 10 people used it we could pretty much count on heavy graphics laden spams to disappear. If you look at the HTML you can see what type of effect this will have. -

If you want free computers
When I owned my computer store I used to get tons of computers that people would just give me that I wouldn't buy from them I had the whole basement fl of antique computers. You could put a free ad in your local paper and people would probably give you more computers then you could handle.

Re:It's about time
Somewhere there's a perl script that will automatically click all those links
you can find several scripts here -
Re:Step #3 in Jam the Spammers GameAnother way to fight them is to cost them money. This was discussed previously here on Slashdot (a few months ago), and as a result I fixed up a Perl script to make it easier.
Just go here and click "Kill GoTo Spammers!" to do damage.
Without filling in the edit box, it'll randomly choose 10-20 spammers to target. It loads the http://www.goto.com search page for "bulk+email" and then clicks on the top N links. Each click costs a certain amount of money (currently, the top link is worth $1.25). (I just ran it for 10 spammers, and did $9.59 worth of damage.)
Note that the script is written such that it can be run from the command-line or through a CGI. If you want source, Lenny has graciously provided a page for my work.
Enjoy!

we should all fight spam
if everyone would do what ever they could to fight spam we could really make some progress against spammers
you could use spamcop.net or read some of these ideas -
Re:Cost them $ with your mouse - it's easy:Hit 'em where it hurtz
Agreed completely. I visited Lenny's war on spam and found a script there that almost worked (perhaps it did, back in February; goto.com must have changed their formatting).
After 4 hours or so of picking at it, I've fixed it up so it will keep a log, give you reports on how much you've cost each spammer, a total for each day, as well as the grand total.
I want to take it further, and create a web page for it to send data to -- so it can drop the lines it adds to the logfile, and we can have a backend that collects these from around the world, and displays a running total like those world population signs. But that was too much for just one evening.
;-)I emailed it to Lenny, but I'll post it here for those who want it now.
You can easily add this as a cron job (or NT's equivalent) and have it run every, say, 15 minutes. You won't notice the bandwidth it takes up, and you'll be costing them about $2,400 a day.
From here to the end of this post (my sig), it's all script. The name is kill_goto_spammers.pl.
Thanks to the lameness filters, I am not able to share this with you. If you want it, email me.

Re:Most of the dirtbags who spam me use 800 number
the best thing to do with 800 number spam is call the number It's costs the spammers money and their time especially if you leave your name and number and they call you back thats when you tell them how much you hate spam just imagine if 1000 people called their number every time they sent out spam it would totaly screw them up
