Re:Seems about right
Depends on what you mean by mainstream. There is http://www.livestation.com/ with live streams of Al Jazeera, France 24, Russia Today, and the Wall Street Journal (who now have video news), all in English. Depending on what country you're watching from, they also stream CNN International and BBC World News as well.

Nope it's here.
No, it's here. There's no need for signing up for anything.

Re:Why does everyone support Google in this?
In my country, it is completely illegal to search for the word "Capena" or the phrase "government corruption".
Are you ok with that?
You think that sucks? In my country, government corruption isn't just acknowledged publicly, but accepted as unchangeable. We've elected men convicted on seven felony corruption charges. We have people who were never elected to any office handing out checks for 630 billion dollars even after our elected officials emphatically said "NO!"
As for Chinese censorship... It's completely illegal to view BBC World News here in the US. I have to proxy through China to watch it. Are you ok with that?

Re:Progress
What I was really looking for was a weather map to see if the storms were close. Ironically, I was able to access the National Weather Service website and bypass television completely. My wife and I don't really watch broadcast TV, except for The Big Bang Theory, Mad Men, Desperate Housewives (my wife not me!) and occasional episodes of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.
Ironically again, I receive better quality programming reception from my "jolly roger antenna" than on my TV, and with no commercials! I do enjoy laserdiscs on my 35" Sony Trinitron. I also have a DVD player that plays AVIs flawlessly from data DVDs and CDs. If I really need a TV news update I can tune into European news via the Livestation app installed on my Mac.
Basically, broadcast and CATV 2011 = newspapers 2010... -
Re:Whats with the ads
Off Topic Response: First of all, click the link. You'll find that it goes to http://www.livestation.com/ which simply provides news feeds. Secondly, before making blanket statements, do you have proof that Al Jazeera provides material and financial support to terrorist organizations? We are in a new era now where accusations are not enough to convict. I don't like Al Jazeera at all as it tends to be just as one sided as CNN and Fox News. But dislikes don't equate to criminality. I am sure George W. Bush would have loved to put a bunker buster right thru their front door,

Al Jazeera (English)
You can use Livestation.com for a continuous Al Jazeera (English) feed that you won't get on your cable. I won't claim it's objective, but I don't think you'll hear an unfiltered viewpoint from the "other side" in the U.S. media. Also, they have the only reporters inside of Gaza, since Israel has apparently banned the mainstream media.

Livestation
Livestation has many news channels that will be covering the election night live (some of which may or may not be available in the U.S.). It's all free and works on Mac, Windows and Linux. (Disclosure: I work for Livestation.)
Some channels of note are Al Jazeera and France 24 which will offer international perspectives. There's over a thousand other live streams available to add if you can't find exactly what you want. There will probably also be live chat with Al Jazeera producers during the coverage.
